I have a bunch of "Soldier of Fortune" magazines and gun magazines here that I would like to send to the troops. I understand that these are popular with them. I need addresses where to send things to them. I could also enclose kids stuff like crayons and coloring books for the troops to pass out. Some candy too, like lollipops.

Thank you for all that you do! My assistant has a daughter that was very recently with the 101st and she mentioned CARE packages from home and how wonderful they are. Thankfully, she is home now, but is probably going to reenlist. She says the job isn't done.

BTTT

And a "huge thank you" back to you for directing this effort. Not only are we giving what we can to support our troops, we are involving our children by showing them that there is no way too small to honor our heroes. I remember someone whose little grandsons shared their basket of goodies with the troops last year.

Our girl scout unit here in Floyd County, Iowa is doing a "cookie share" with our cookie sales this year. What this means is anyone can pay for a box of delicious girl scout cookies to be sent our local guard unit (1133rd). Last year we did "cookie share" for a local hospital and were able to deliver 40 boxes to them. We expect an even bigger amount since it is for the troops. The cost of shipping these cookies will be outrageous though. Maybe we should just ship a dozen at a time since the cookies freeze well.

Dear Patty,

This is the best I can format the list ... Excel spreadsheet, tab-delimited, saved to text, copied and pasted, with < Pre > formatting. Are you taking notes? ;-)

Boxes (Destination/Locations) 1, 3, & 4 are off to Tal Afar, Mosul and Bagram respectively.

The #2 boxes (3 total) are set aside for a new APO for the border area? All is set up, I just need an APO. I thought the #2 batch was the best for the guys & gals in a tough location.

Let me know if there is a better way to format these titles to fit your Master List of Books.

All the boxes had an extra space where books wouldn't fit so we filled them with individually wrapped peppermints, butterscotch, Dum-Dums, Tootsie Pops, Etc.

180 books total - if you need weights and postage costs let me know. I'm just sending them uninsured, and checked as "abandoned" in case of non-delivery. Someone will get them! ;-)

At the start, it seemed like there was a donation box in just about every store where they were collecting items to be sent to the troops. Around here, at least, we don't see any of that unless I'm just not going to the right stores to see the boxes. Of course, there have been several disasters where the collection boxes were used for other things and they seemed to just not pick back up with Iraq.

Every Soldier's Battle Rolls On
by Stephen Arterburn
http://www.newlife.com/

On Wednesday, October 25, I will co-host a special program to further New Life’s Every Soldier’s Battle campaign with KKLA’s afternoon talk-show host, Frank Pastore, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Pacific Time). If you live in the Los Angeles area, KKLA is found at 99.5 FM. If you live elsewhere, you can tune in to this program by going to www.kkla.com and clicking, "Listen OnLine" on their home page, and listen live.

Listen and get an update on this special program to our troops. We’ve sent 20,000 kits out thus far, and have been funds to cover the cost of the original kits that were sent to the troops. We’re now at the point that although we’re not completely caught up, we’re willing to take that next step of faith and start sending kits out again. We’ll be interviewing chaplains and soldiers and talking about what New Life is doing to help our military personnel maintain integrity.

We won’t be talking about the politics of the war. We’ll be talking about the spiritual and emotional battles of the men and women who are willing to lay their lives on the line, and how we can help them in those battles. And we’ll be encouraging your support of the troops through Every Soldier’s Battle.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

If you can’t listen on Wednesday, go to www.everysoldiersbattle.com to learn more and to make a gift in support of our troops, both home and abroad.

See you on the radio,

Stephen Arterburn

P.S. If you or someone you know received one of these kits and would like to share with us with a live or recorded call on Wednesday, please call Kim at (949) 494-8383, ext. 766, to schedule that call
