And there are at least two human bodies involved in an assisted suicide.
If people want to kill themselves, let them do it by themselves and not involve innocent people or the medical profession.
LOL...now you're suggesting that Christ committed suicide.
Amazing.
Suicide is suicide regardless the WHY [...]
Okay, then...why not call it suicide, which it is!? Euthanasia involves killing another person. The Oregon law is about killing oneself (i.e., suicide!)
you argue it is not euthanaia because of the reason it is done
Please show where I did that! I argue it's not euthanasia because it doesn't match the definition of the word.
Since suicide is a matter of alleviating suffering, I would like to avoide botching the attempt and potentially increase my present agonies.
Therefore I would appreciate the option to consult a professional trained in the science of adminstering medicine.
Are you a liberal? The only folks I've ever met who didn't know the difference between protecting the lives of the innocent and taking the lives of the guilty have been liberals.
Agreed. There should be no prescription required to get Seconal, and we should allow people to have it delivered. (Or do you just not think about disabled people when you make your propnouncements?)
Well, couldn't He have used his superpowers to smite the Romans and escape?
Why not for individuals?
The law in question is about doctors providing and faciltating the death of another -as in killing The law is not about suicide although it may be called suicide. It is all about procuring death and the only difference between suicide and euthansia is who the killer is...
God clearly wanted Him dead, so just like you should never swerve to miss an accident, Jesus could not avoid His fate.
More importantly, the State wanted him dead...and since everyone the State is always the agent of Divine Will . . . well, you do the math.
At this point, I'd be more confident in decisions from a court populated only by the Stooges than they current court.
Isn't it obvious LOL... The same flawed arguments are posited daily on DU...
My 2 cents worth. The USSC refused to get involved with California's death penalty on Toki Williams because it is a state issue. The same with this, it is a state issue. Everyone here should be glad that the USSC is not getting involved in this. Let the states govern themselves. It will define what they are. The liberals will be attracted to the liberal states and the conservatives will be drawn to the conservative ones.
Wrong on all counts. How do you do it? Besides I'm in the most capitatistic business you can imagine ... posted right in my profile. I'm reminded everyday of the greatness of our economic system. Let's get back to your accusations. Supposedly I got on this thread and began "trashing' people. Was that it? Do me a favor and point out the post. I looked through this thread and cannot see it. If you can't find it then go pick on someone else.
And what a difference that is...as EternalVigilance has pointed out. In that mixed-up world, it's okay for the government to kill others, but a person has no right to kill himself.
We all live for the hive, you know...
