"AN OXFORD University student who called a policeman's horse "gay" will not be prosecuted.
But police stood by their decision to take him to court for "homophobic comments" after the Crown Prosecution Service yesterday dropped the case.

You know if some group of people were to drag this cop off his horse into an alley way to break his legs... I don't think I would convict them if I was on the jury.
This sounds bizarre, but I couldn't get the site to come up, so I didn't get the whole story.
Hey dude, your hag is a fag.
Heres the version posted yesterday:

I despair at whats happening to free speech in this country. Some Muslim cleric is going to court for making homophobic comments. Hopefully itll get thrown out (and I dont agree with his comments). Its a sad day when the champion in a test case on free speech is a homophobic Muslim cleric but thats what its going to have to be.
This is clearly a case for Chief Inspector Morse of the Thames Valley Police Authority.
I love the stuff that pops up on FR in the wee hours in the U.S.
Quick! Get this deranged criminal into shackles and chains! Get him off the streets so we'll all be safer!
It's madness, I tell ya! Madness!
Thanks for posting the extra url. I may be of the opinion that Islam is one of the biggest ills this world faces, but this particular incident of stupidity is ridiculous.
The officer got pissed and decided to throw a frivolous charge at this guy. That's another problem with too many laws - selective prosecution. The law ends up being used as a political tool, or one of personal spite. As in Russia.
Ok, let me try and put this stupid case in context. There is a bit of a fuss over public drunkenness in the UK at the moment. Weve just relaxed the licencinglicensing laws and bars are now allowed to open later. There was already a worry about public drunkenness and thats not killed the worries (the change was supposed to help but lets not get into that).
Anyway, to this end the police have been getting pretty strict on people who have been basically drunk and disorderly. Ive seen someone fined just for swearing. The student here was almost certainly drunk and I suspect thats why the police fined him. But if theyre going to do that they should get the right charge, not some stupid hate crime charge. How can calling a horse gay be homophobic anyway?
Still, this shows how the law works here. Theres no constitution to speak of so if an oversensitive copper challenges your right to freedom of speech you have to show a bit of testicular fortitude and dare them to take you to court. At least the CPS saw how silly this was and backed down.
Did you call me a hoof? [arrested for homophobic comments against horse]

Mike Stivic (Rob Reiner): Do you know that in many countries, England for instance, there is a law that says whatever two consenting adults do in private is their own business?
Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor): Listen, this ain't England. We threw England outta here a long time ago. We don't want no more part of England and for your information, England is a fag country.
Mike: What?!
Archie: Certainly. Ain't they still picking handkerchiefs out of their sleeves? The whole country is based on a kind of ... fagdom.
I know a special constable who works for Surrey Police. Apparently Thames Valley Police dont have a great reputation with them.
ROFLMAO. Thanks for that Archie moment.
"...in the U.S."
As a matter of curiosity, I clicked over to your profile. Are you out of your mind, girl??? What on earth is a babe like you doing over there with all the sand, the fleas, the camels, and the bombs?
Anyway, keep your eyes open and your head down. Sigh...
You nailedit! Just a cop being a cop.
Wasn't there some guy who died from an equine tryst recently?
Yep. ;-) I was only going to do this for a year, but I keep coming back. I just can't get enough.
It's going to take years of therpay to figure out why. LOL
