I'm not sure how to phrase this to avoid legal implications, but let me say it has been widely reported that he is gay and he refuses to deny it. This will become an issue in any campaign.

Well, I don't want this to become one of those MD4Bush threads, but I heard from a high-ranking Republican Party official from Palm Beach County that the local party officials have known for years about Foley's same-sex orientation but that it has never been an issue with them. That's as may be, but I think that it could very well be an issue among conservative Democrats in North Florida and among Republicans throughout the state (he has often voted for special rights for gays), and those are the votes we need to defeat Bill Nelson.

I have heard that before.

His sex life is of no interest as long as he doesn't proselytize it.

If the Democrats want to be hypocritical about it and make it an issue in a campaign, I have an idea Mark Foley would be up to the challenge.
