God help the poor soul that gets in between Senator Schumer and the cameras.
GOP Not Afraid of Filibuster [Ed Whelan 01/12 09:39 AM]
From a senior Senate GOP leadership aide:
1. Run against President Bush, like its 2004 all over againNSA, 2000 Supreme Court election decision, etc.
2. When not doing 1, continually hammer at abortionwhich the majority of America is uncomfortable with, to say the least.
3. When not doing 1 or 2, keep talking about CAP, which no American understands.
4. When not doing 1, 2, or 3, tick off Chairman Specter: first threaten to postpone the markup date, then pull a procedural stunt behind his back.
5. When not doing 1, 2, 3, or 4, and all else fails, dont even apologize when the nominees wife cries.
Good plan.
And these guys still want to threaten a filibuster?
Bring it!
This morning, Fred Grandy said he was watching last night's session on C-Span, and as it closed, the cameras were left on. Spector and Leahy were shuffling papers and chatting about something. Cameras were clicking furiously at this exchange.
Just off in the distance, Chuckie noticed that all cameras were focused on Spector and Leahy. Sure enough, Chuckie made a mad dash and positioned himself in between Spector and Leahy, and had the goofiest grin on his face, as the cameras kept clicking. Fred Grandy opined: "Senator Schumer must have been terribly ignored as a child."
Schumer - did you see how animated he was for the photogs - waving his arms all about as in "look at me look at me"...makes me want to hurl.
