I grew up having dogs in the house.
My exposure to cats is very minimal.
What does a cat actually do with a mouse when he catches it?
I hope Alito's wife has some valium. I know I'd need it to sit thought this crap to keep me from ripping someone's head off.
Meow very strangely and then drop it at your feet the minute you open the ddor--if they catch it outside. If they catch it inside--no idea--the only animal that ever caught a mouse inside my house was my (now dearly departed) black lab!
What do cats do once they catch the mouse?
That's sometimes the downside. If your cat really loves you, it will leave the mouse in a special place for you as a gift. Beside the pillow or in a shoe, for example.
Mine, because they really love me, will leave it somewhere in the path I take on the way to the coffee maker in the morning so that I'm sure to discover it in the darkness and my half awaken state. They love the scream it brings out of me, followed by my knees going weak and nearly bringing me to the floor.
I had a basset hound that would catch mice. If they were small enough, he would swallow them whole.
It depends how domesticated the cat is. Most cats don't associate the hunt with food. It is a learned behavior. For a time Mr. Peel and I lived in a very rural area and initially, our city cats would romp outside, then run inside to use the litter box. After a year or so of rural life, they were not only catching little animals, they were killing them, and .. (gasp!) .. eating them.
Generally, they would kill something outside and (generally) leave it outside. If a mouse got inside, they couldn't be bothered even chasing it. They'd look at us as if to say: "your turn now".
