To Coburn on C-span this morning said that he thinks that Alito might get one or two Dem votes in committee....When asked by the startled host WHO?..he mentioned Feingold.saying he was a "very independent thinker.." I think that Coburn was having fun at Feingold's expense....but I'll ask the question..anyone think that Alito gets a Dem vote here..I thik 3 voted for Roberts....Kohl, Feingold, and one other..
I think he'll get at least a couple of votes because if they give a complete shutout, given how many questions he's answered, it will be obvious that none of them EVER intended to vote for him from the start and deaming the hearings completely pointless.
Still deciding the ye votes.
I'm thinking it'll be a straight party line vote out of committee, and I still don't rule out a filibuster attempt on the Senate floor.
As far as Feingold goes, he got roasted alive by the far left for voting yes on Roberts in committe and on the floor, and he's one of the Dim presidential candidates who is pandering to the loons instead of trying to fool the moderates (like Hillary). There's no way he votes for Alito - the moonbats would abandon him in droves.
I can't begin to predict how a U.S. Senator will act, except Ted kennedy. But if Alito were to get a Dem vote out of Committee ( though not convinced it'll happen), imo, Kohl would be a likely choice. Wisconsin was close last presidential election. That is why Feingold and Kohl voted for Roberts. Feingold is running for President so unlikely he'll vote for Alito despite the closeness of his state. Voting for Roberts to replace rehnquist is forgiveable. The hard left is unlikely to forgive Alito for O'Connor. Kohl isn't running for President, he needs to only consider how voting against Alito could come back to haunt him if his state continue to drift right.
I think Leahy was the third.
