When Christ came he established the new "Israel". God's chosen are now those redeemed by Christ. Genesis 17: 7-9
And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be G-d to you and to your descendants after you. And I will give to you and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their G-d"

"Tell me, do you take Luke 18:20-22 literally?"Yes. John 3:16 as well (For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.) But Christ didn't demand everyone give everything away as THE one and only way to His Kingdom, did he?
But then again, scripture is about context as well and chapters in the Old Testament are sometimes tied to the New Testament.
Challenge your heart. Or even your intellect. Take a bible class or two. At a Baptist Church. You may be surprised not only by what you've taken out of context, but what you've misunderstood. I've been there myself.
You're not the only one not to "get" the bible.

Nah, the toothy flake just can't keep from saying stupid things.

---Certainly it took immense courage of conviction for an influential man like the former candidate for the American presidency to say something he knew would enrage many people...---
No it didn't. The man is a clown-head.

The World will always run from the Truth. The Bible says it so Pat warned us which took incredible courage.

Well, that I don't know since we never tune in to listen or see him. I am only aware of this remark becuase it was so blatant and of course, was on the news.

Here, once again, is a quote of Robertson's comments.
"
'He was dividing G[-]ds land,' Robertson said. 'And I would say, Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the E.U., the United Nations or the United States of America. G[-]d says, This land belongs to me. You better leave it alone' (
JTA by way of FR).
As much as I disagree with PM Sharon's recent appeasements, Pat did imply and presume Sharon's judgement after Sharon went to the hospital. That's not for us to do. Pat did so with indirect, implying language, and I have less respect for that than direct statements.
Should Pat's words be a big media issue for days and days? I don't think so. And Israel has the right to accept or reject any development-for-revenues kind of religious/amusement park deal. Israel is, by Mandate, the Jewish homeland (minus the large portions that people of other religions in the nations of this world have coerced it by threats to give away to the terrorists since).

Come on. Pat Robertson is someone who
really gets off on the sound of his own voice. I've very seldom heard him when he actually had something worthwhile to say, yet he always seems to be talking.
He's feeling some repercussions from the state of Israel this time. Nice.

I've got no argument with that...or your belief. My problem is with a certain segment of the evangelical movement that I know from personal experience with them.
Peace!

Guess you won't mind it then if Iran attacks Israel and "Bush/Rice" don't come to help? Afterall, they are (according to you) "the most anti-Zionist of any modern administration".

I've very seldom heard him when he actually had something worthwhile to say, yet he always seems to be talking.Notice how on the 700 Club the 'questioner' fawns over Robertson's every word as if it were Gospel truth ? This is the voice of a man who is not the least bit used to having anything he says questioned so he can just run his mouth without the vaguest clue what he is talking about.

"I've got no argument with that...or your belief. My problem is with a certain segment of the evangelical movement that I know from personal experience with them."Try and redefine "Christian Fundamentalism" from a different sampling of people.
Many of us have in our lives had the same kind of "personal experience" of arrogance, holier-than-thouism, and egotism within segments of most sects of "Christianity."
The Word is best learned from someone or a church with the utmost in humility, patience, and the ability to convey real knowledge of true scripture. All you need is the "faith of a mustard seed," friend.
Wanna see some real humility, real sincerity, and non-judgementalism in a real relaxed atmosphere? Seriously, try a Baptist Church for a great bible study or sermon. "Regular" people. You WILL be surprised.
Peace to you as well, bro.
To: Central Scrutiniser
"Pat Robertson is an idiot, his followers are worse, lemming followers of a mad man."Having enough fun yet??
You and others want to hang Robertson and ridicule his "followers" for this latest statement and exactly what else?
In your opinion, are there ANY Christian Leaders who represent "Christianity" sufficiently besides Jesus Christ Himself?
