This Is My Chair!

My Humans have so many different places
Within this house's rooms and spaces
To sit or stretch out and relax, or be alone

Yet, when I wish to curl up and contemplate
Human foibles and the whims of fate
I like to do it out of mind and out of sight

I can hear the Pretty One on the phone
Chatting away as I silently roam
Up the stairs and over carpeted halls

To the small and cozy room where the Little One sleeps
Where I find my special aerie empty and silently leap
To shape and press my fur against a pillow plush and deep

With a seat worn smooth as the finest satin
The scents of oiled oak and leather send my whisker battin'
As I watch the Little One's fists curl up into tiny balls

It's only fair that my Humans should know
That I staked this chair out years ago
The first chair I leapt up to with azure eyes aglow

First in one room, then another, and all the rest
I like this chair right here the best
And if you try to separate us, there will surely be a fight!
