Leahy surprised many people by breaking with most Democrats on the Judiciary Committee to support Roberts, who was confirmed.

However, the senator said Alito has not been as forthcoming about his views as Roberts was in private meetings with Leahy. The senator said he sent questions to Alito but received no response.

"I'll just have to ask him those questions at the hearings," Leahy said. "I'll make up my mind about him based on what he has to say."

I look forward to petulant complaints by the Senate Committee members from NY and Delaware that Judge Alito's responses are taking away their time. Extra points to Alito if they also complain about him not answering their questions when the cut him off.

There's a lot of pressure on Dems to vote No. Ed Whelan (NRO, Bench Memos) says that Kohl is giving similar signs of being pressured into a No vote in Committee.

I find it interesting that the Democrat Senators are worried about Mr. Alito possibly having an agenda. Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?

I have had the same cleaning lady for over 20 years.

She used to be excellent, but now she's cranky and she doesn't do a great job.

I would like to fire her but the price is right.

My neighbor wants to hire her. My neighbor's husband understood that I am the cleaning lady :-)
