Hatch live on C-SPAN expressing concern that many DEMs on the panel, and some of the GOP, seem to already have their minds made up. I think he raises the GOP "examples" to avoind the appearance of being partisan.

"What we heard to day were long statements of charges ... the American people shoudl understand that what is said by the Senators is not evidence. The evidence comes from Judge Alito." (my prapahrase).

Reporter asks if Senators can't come to a conclusion by reading Alito's opinins. Specter charges slective reading, sicne Alito has so many opinions. Specter reiterates that charges without an answer back are not fair. Give the nominee a chance to speak his piece - you"reporter" are reading the charges of Senators as though they were criminal indictments (meaning there is evidence on the other side too, and Alito needs opportunity to speak).

Specter's comments here will make the news.

Correction above - not Hatch live - it is SPECTER. Sorry about that. Not proofreading at all, just typing and sending.

Just watched that--to his credit, Specter seemed genuinely angry. Loved what he said at the end of his statement: " Let's not run the fellow out on a rail, as seems to happen a lot in this town!"

"Specter's comments here will make the news."

I truly hope the comments do get wide news coverage. They should. However, I'm thinking that many reporters have lost their backbone when it comes to reporting what's right.

The only ones that talked today were the Senators

Good Grief ... nothing like being beyond obvious of being a tainted jury
