My hubby might agree with you in principle, but having been there through the births of our four kids, he recognizes that Dads go through their own 'labor' watching their wives dealing with the pains of childbirth. He said it's the most helpless he's ever felt.
Women have been giving birth for a very long time - often without men at their side. It really isn't a big deal.
