On January 4, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. (PST) the Rose Bowl Game will host the BCS National Championship, between USC and Texas once again showcasing the best of collegiate football in "The Granddaddy of Them All."® The Rose Bowl will be broadcast exclusively on ABC and on ESPN radio.
I also predicted in december of 2004 that UNC would beat Illinois for the National Championship in Basketball.

LOL - USC scraped by ASU 28-28. ASU was ahead 28-24 with 6 minutes to go. Here are some recap quotes from the USC website... USC website

Yeah - I already corrected that. Still a better score than your beloved LSU got it the same season against the lowly, unworthy Pac-10 team, huh?
I don't think so. They just played sloppy at times in the first half against a team that could match them on the scoreboard. You have to hang this one USC's defense.

Speaking of LSU...I have to rant for a second...First I'd like to state that I am a WVU Mountaineer. I'm just a little miffed that LSU is ranked ahead of us in the BSC poll. LSU wasn't even the SEC Champion and we beat the SEC Champion.

I realize that - just don't claim that USC was the coaches champion - LSU was.
Look the BCS is a quasi-playoff system developed for the sole purpose of matching up the two top ranked team by a criteria that everyone agrees on and signs on to. The champion of that game is the national champion - it doesn't matter what some journalist with a poll think.
Just like the winner of the superbowl is the NFL champion regardless of their record or what the press thinks about them, the BSC title game winner is the college national champion.
The year that Oklahoma beat FSU for the title, I felt that Miami was the best team in the country, but that doesn't change the fact that Oklahoma won the BCS and are therefore national champions.
The various polls were made irrelevant by the agreement of all major Div-1 teams to join the BCS.
No one but the most adamant fanboys would claim LSU as national champions if they just won the AP poll but USC won the BCS title game.
I think Auburn was the best team last year, but USC won the BCS game so they are national champs. That is the system that everyone agreed to.
Uh, neither FSU nor Miami are conference games for Florida.
Ahh, but those games are in-state against traditional rivals.
Rankings outside of the top 2 or 3 are just crap shoots. They go by the full body of work and LSU's schedule was much tougher. LSU also destroyed Miami.
Where is ASU ranked, and where is LSU ranked? Who won the game when they played? LSU did, of course.

But, your point is well taken...I believe ASU, UCLA, Oregon, and USC all have good offenses. Of the defenses I have watched this year, I think UCLA was the worst....having said that, my point is about the defense of the conference overall. I only mentioned ASU because I heard the announcer during the bowl game mention that they were ranked 113th (114th now).
I don't believe any team in the SEC is better than USC right now...however, I believe that if USC had to play in the SEC the last three years, they would have more than one loss.
So? That even makes them tougher.
Playing FSU every year is much tougher than playing some middle of the pack PAC-10 or Big-10 team every few years.
Also Miami is not a traditional rival for Florida.
You've mentioned this several times but it still doesn't make any sense.

That's true. But I wish Florida did play out of state more, as it would help with recruiting out of state. Or schedule home-and-home games with teams like USC or Ohio State, or even Texas. How cool would it be to see those teams play in the Swamp, instead of the same old SEC teams plus the usual creampuffs.

That didn't change the fact that New England was still the champion. The BCS championship game winner is the agreed upon champion by all of the member schools. That is the system that everyone signed onto.
Some journalists don't change the agreement that USC and every other Div-1 team signed onto.
