On January 4, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. (PST) the Rose Bowl Game will host the BCS National Championship, between USC and Texas once again showcasing the best of collegiate football in "The Granddaddy of Them All."® The Rose Bowl will be broadcast exclusively on ABC and on ESPN radio.
Matt JOnes from Arkansas at Jacksonville too. QUality College QB who is now a standout WR in the NFL.
Vince is actually big anough to play HB in the NFL if he can't cut it as a Qb. I however, think he will be a successful NFL QB. He is everything Michael Vick is, plus he can read a Defense and his throws are accurate.
Hook-em Horns!!!!!!!!!
What an amazing team - they beat Ohio State and USC at home, with the game last night undoubtedly the greatest game I have ever seen, and the greatest individual performance I have ever seen.
The great hope circulating on the bulletin boards in Austin is that Vince may stay because he believes he deserves top 5 money, but only one of the top five NFL teams is likely to draft a QB. There is no guarantee that he'd go above Matt Leinart, and Vince would love to help UT repeat as National Champs, and oh by the way win the Heisman that he deserved this year. Since it's a bad draft for QBs he may wait.
Vince has studied film hard, and made great strides as a QB. He checked off 3 receivers before scrambling for the last TD run, and although most folks don't know it he has been doing that all season. He wants to play QB, and I think his raw talent combined with the competitve fire in his belly will make him a great NFL QB. He'll do whatever it takes to make that happen.
I turned off Keith "PAC-10" Jackson and listened to our boys on KVET 1300 during the game, even though they were ~1 second ahead. Even after the game ESPN started scrolling that this was the first undisputed National Championship for UT since '69, but they never did say that about USC's 2004 "title" while ESPN was fellating USC during the entire month of December. Freakin' yahoos.
I was 10 years old in 1969, and clearly remember Street to Peschel in the 15-14 win over Beelzebubba's state. It's been a long 35 years since the 1970 shared title, and I REALLY enjoyed sharing the joy of this victory with my wife and 3 sons last night!
Hook-em, and God Bless Texas.
Ted
Congrats to the Longhorns. Young was impressive. Not to take anything away from his performance, but USC gave this game away. It is hard to be mad at Carroll after all he has done to build this team, but how on earth did they let that TD in the 2nd quarter go unchallenged? Anyway, I'm glad it was a good game.

Just pulling your leg.

Had it not been for a LUCKY bounce out of bounds on a fumble, USC would have lost to Notre Dame. Fresno State almost beat them, and they lost 5 games this year.
USC did have a very good team this year, the best of the last three teams...but according to the stats, and the score, Texas BEAT them. Carroll made the ONLY decision that could be made on the 4th and 2...I respect him for that...shows guts and confidence in his team.
Bush made a boneheaded decision on the latereal, etc...but the stats still show that Young completed 75% of his passes (USC almost the same), Young ran for 200 yards, and that Texas averaged 8.3 yards per carry rushing. (300 rushing yards). The stats do show a close game, as it was...but the advantage, along with the score, fall to Texas.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Of course the TD should have been called back - and therefore the missed extra point would have been gone too. The way Texas was raming the ball down USC's throat at the time, they would surely have scored on the next few plays and probably would have nailed the extra point. So, very likely the bum call gave USC a one point advantage. However, it was of zero consequence, as Texas overcame a 12 point deficit to win the game.
Congratulations Texas fans! What a game! I nearly cheered myself hoarse.
Signed,
A Kansas State Fan -- which was the last team to beat USC before TX last night. Go Big 12!!
Congrats Texas!!!! Hook Em!!!!!
Agreed...Notre Dame could have beat USC had things been different. Sometimes things go your way sometimes they don't. The difference is, there was no instant replay used in the ND game. There was in this game. I'm not questioning Carroll's decision on 4th down. I'm questioning his failure to call for an instant replay on the TD in the 2nd quarter -- the one where Young was clearly down and made a TD pass. Bush and Leinart each made a bad play -- either of which would have made a difference in the game. My point is, USC gave this game away. Even with Young as astounding as he was, USC was right in there. Even with the turnovers by SC, they still would have won had it not been for the "phantom TD". That's life, I guess.
Just wanted to selfishly get on this great thread for a great team. Living in Austin, what else could I do. When the play clock hit 0:00, I was out in the streets with a hardy "Yahoo."
How can you say ND is overrated? Their big win of the year was over #28 Michigan followed closely by a win over powerhouse #30 Navy (which moved up 9 spots by skipping the bowls).
Just because ND should be ranked somewhere between 12th and 16th doesn't mean the press got it wrong. Don't you believe everything you read (coaches poll is political and illegit)?
"The way Texas was raming the ball down USC's throat at the time, they would surely have scored on the next few plays and probably would have nailed the extra point." You don't know that. They could have, at best, wound up with a FG, the same way SC stopped them in the previous drive. And since he just missed the extra point it is just as likely he would have missed a FG. We'll never know. Agreed, though, the way Texas came back from 12 points down was impressive.
gonna luv watchin' them explain how UT managed to beat usc....
UT 42 USC 41
close...
HOOK' EM HORNS!!!!

The key was Texas slowed down USC just enough. They didn't give up the huge play, they made USC earn their TDs. It limited the number of possessions just enough to keep the score reasonable, and give Texas a shot if they could make that one defensive stop.
