On January 4, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. (PST) the Rose Bowl Game will host the BCS National Championship, between USC and Texas once again showcasing the best of collegiate football in "The Granddaddy of Them All."® The Rose Bowl will be broadcast exclusively on ABC and on ESPN radio.
"Still you have to wonder what the outcome would have been without all the freebies for Texas....."
HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! freebies for TEXAS? That's rich. You must not watch much football if you thought the refs were anything but on USC's nuts the whole game. I counted about seven no-calls that were drive-crucial.
Seriously, the PAC 10 is a stunningly weak conference and all they get is the benefit of every doubt.
Of course he'll return. Why take a pay cut early?
Sorry, couldn't resist.
i agree 100# :)
Seriously... at 16-7, UT intercepted Leinart for the second time (the ground can't cause a fumble)... yet the refs gave Sc a do over. As far as I'm concerned, the booth buddies, the refs, the guy with the clock are little different than the team that officiated the USSr v USA baskeetball game in Munich.
I'm glad the Horns won but I think Mack Brown is Barry Switzer without the charm, charisma, and criminal record. Great recruiter but average coach. Strategic game plan: recruit Vince Young and give him the ball.
Probably right
Young should go to the NFL-- risking injury for a Heisman is dopey. Go to the big show and get paid... life is unpredictable...
How about the guy with the clock at the end of the game not stopping the clock when the reciever ran out of bounds! :D
And someone's defense FINALLY got to Leinart!
A game for the ages (or a game to age you). If anyone has a DVD copy, please FReepmail me. Gee, I hope i can wind down and sleep, work in the a.m.
It's doubtful that USC would have went on this run if they played in the SEC, Big-10, Big-12 or ACC.
This is not to say that the PAC-10 is bad or anything, but there just aren't many teams in the conference that are a challenge.
Having to face Florida, Georiga, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee and LSU all in one year and then again in a championship game is a lot different than facing Oregon and Arizona State.
The same for the Big-10 with Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin. Even the lower tiered teams can bite you.
Getting by Miami, FSU and Va Tech is not easy task either.
Seriously. Mack Brown should want to be an interracial Brokeback Mountain with Vince Young. Lord knows, Vince saved his ass and got him immprtality tonight.
Oh thats deep.....
If 50,000 people say a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing.

Criminal record? Forgetting there's a gun in a carry-on bag and "insider trading" that even I could've known about?
BINGO, and he is not guaranteed another great season like he had this year. Come out this year, Dont risk injury, or your draft status. He will be top 10, he cant guarantee that if he stays next year.
Yeah, that was insane. Then they added seconds back when it looked like a UT score was imminent and SC would need every second to score.
Westbrook and White would be a monster backfield.
Texas consistently gets extremely lucky calls (e.g., Kansas a couple of years ago, vs A&M this year, the Rose Bowl, etc.). The false TD forever taints this win.
However, the facemask was there.
Of course, their DBs got away with murder all night. The spearing and other cheap shots were near criminal and should have resulted in player ejections.
On the other hand, I like it when Florida State does the same thing.
I saw it and agree. What really buzzed me were the holds. Leinart had hardly any pressure on him the whole game, and it was in part due to several no-call holds that would have been drive-crucial.
I've had this tagline for about two months now. I'll give it a few more days to rub it in and think of another. The only question now is if we can finish off the triple crown and add the basketball title to the baseball and football one. That's for later, but tomorrow I'll be at the tower.
