Today was the long-anticipated status hearing on guardianship for Scott.
The hearing took place in judge's chambers with Pamela and her attorneys and Eliza and her attorneys. Pamela presented the judge with information that she has now filed with the court to have Scott declared "partially capacitated". This means, at the very least, that he would then be allowed to indicate his preferences for his social environment, such as who is allowed to visit. He has repeatedly indicated that he does not want to see Eliza, but he does wants to see his son.
Pamela also informed the judge that, after Scott is legally determined to be "partially capacitated", they would be filing for a divorce for him. [emphasis mine]
Eliza indicated to the judge that she would fight any divorce proceedings.
The final item that Pamela presented to the judge is that Scott is scheduled for surgery to close his tracheotomy opening, which should allow him to regain his ability to speak and make sound.
Based on all the above information, Judge Wilkes ruled to grant Pamela another six months of full guardianship of Scott. This will be a crucial time for Pamela and Scott, as they continue to work, not only for Scott's recovery, but for him to regain the right and ability to truly "speak for himself".

If Ted didn't visit FL, he would not be dehydrating and starving in a hospice right now.
Before all heated up last year, we were still seriously considering getting a property in the area between Ocala and Clearwater. We had contacted real estate agents, and I visited properties on my way to Pinellas Park. I should add I lived near Sebring when a kid, and had a house in Homestead before Hurricane Andrew, so had ties and affection for Florida. Guess what changed!!! It was not the place I remembered.
This son (in name only) has even less honor than I realized previously. That goes for the rest of the siblings, as it appears none of them are doing anything to comfort their father. I don't get it. But I'm glad I don't. I don't want to understand evil.
I think this whole thing is despicable. Everybody washes their hands of responsibility.
Very much has changed in Florida when you have been away for a while and then return. Sometimes I am afraid for my family still there, but then I think pretty much any state will have these problems. I think it may well depend on your family. If they don't believe in the sanctity of life, then you're doomed. I know there will be times when even that isn't enough. It wasn't enough for Terri, and it wasn't enough for Jimmy Chambers, either. And there are many more we never hear about.
The idea of futile care has been ingrained in so many of these doctors. Heck, that's what Dr. Cranford has been teaching to his student doctors at Univ. of Minnesota all these years. Ethics? I used to think that "moral" was a synonym for "ethics". Perhaps at one time it was, but it isn't that way anymore.
Ted has passed away. Just got an email from NCG.
He was brutally starved and dehydrated to death by his son. This is so sad.
Even though Haleigh Poutre is conscious, she’s not necessarily safe.

Did you see that Dr. Bill Frist, "R"-TN, said he will never again intervene in these "right-to-die" cases?
I am sure they already collected all of it and I wouldn't hold my breath that they transport the body back for burial as they said.
