We're commanded to "test the spirits" whenever we hear anything regarding God. We compare what we hear with the Bible itself. If the two conflict, then we know something is wrong with the speaker. Paul applauded the Bereans for doing this--with HIM. It's an honor to be compared to the Bible and to be found in harmony with it.
Some of the men you mentioned are fine, decent men, some are scoundrels. The good ones have no business being on TBN, and thereby putting their stamp of approval on it. I'm glad Hal left, it's more than about time.

"You're quickly going through all the sins that you accuse the Crouches of, and yet you DO NOT KNOW THEM."

Oh, really? Maybe I don't know them personally, but I know them by their fruits. And I know them from other people who work with them on a regular basis, even in the ministry. Don't tell me I don't know them -- I know them well enough to avoid them and any appearance of being involved with the entire TBN mess.

And I don't need to look into the hearts of Paul and Jan to know what's on the outside- and the outside is bad enough. In a nutshell, they are misrepresenting God.

This is precisely the type of shallow and false judgment Jesus warned us against.

The idea that you just look at the outside and ignore the fact that they have produced an incredible ministry with dozens of different teachers, ministers, Christian entertainers and charities the help people around the world is astounding.

We could easily say this about some of your posts.

JESUS HIMSELF TOLD US WE CAN JUDGE A TREE BY IT'S FRUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not supposed to listen to HIM??!!!

Their focus is on money, and the expansion of -their- ministry. Not on Jesus. All we need in our lives is Him. Just Jesus. Not Jesus and...such and such.

Believe what you will, it is not difficult for poeple to tell that Paul and jan are just con artists. I'm sorry you've fallen for their scheme.

Well personally i think its time Tbn is Judged for its heresy. Maybe this will be the start of it. ?

Exactly. But there are some way out Pentecostals that swear by the station.

Context, friend. Is the Lord speaking of the Church Age or the Tribulation, here. In the Tribulation, giving water to one of the faithful remnant could cost you your life. In this Church Age dispensation, it might cost $1.00 at the most.

Jesus was not eating with the Gentiles. he was VERY careful about that. It would have violated His mission of being sent to the lost sheep of ISRAEL..

It was Peter who introduced the Gospel to the Gentiles.

In Jesus' day, the most dangerous creatures around were the scribes and pharisees, because although they looked the part, they were very far from God. Looking at them, they had on the robes, they were pious-looking, they were religious, and when they fasted, everyone knew it. But ont he inside, they were dead. They had no relationship with God. They didn't love Him. Most people bought their act, though, including Jesus' own disciples, and Jesus told them to beware the leaven of the pharisees. Avoid their teaching. Jesus said the pharisees went to great lengths to make people into their image of sons of hell. Even though, on the outside, they looked like sons of God.

My point being this-- PAUL AND JAN DON'T EVEN BOTHER HIDING. They don't wear sackcloth (which would be a good scam for them), and they certainly don't fast. Paul would gladly pull down his silk suit sleeve and shove his rolex in the camera to show you how he's "worth his wages."

And do Paul and Jan Preach? Certainly. They preach the few verses that they can scam people with. Turn on tbn and wait a few minutes/seconds to hear about "sowing the seed to reap the harvest", the " worker is worth his wages", and so forth- the televangelist scam verses. Satan used his share of verses to make his point, and he would usually leave out others. Paul and Jan and the rest at tbn leave out plenty.

Does God want us to be rich? Certainly not. It's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. Jesus had no place to lay His head. Mary, Jesus' mother sacrificed two turtledoves when Jesus was presented- something only a poor family would do. Jesus was born in a cave in a feeding trough. Jesus was hung naked with His meager possessions stolen from Him. Jesus said the prohets walked around with nothing, and the world wasn't worthy of them, and killed them. Jesus told His disciples to take no money or extra shoes with them.

Were there wealthy believers in the Bible? Yes. Usually there to show us the evil that the love of money can bring into our lives. Solomon? Almost destroyed by his lusts. David? Also wealthy- he could point to a woman from his balcony, and then have her husband killed. All examples that the love of money can destroy. The crouches don't fear the love of money, they encourage it.

And since you don't know how many they've won either, bug off. Jesus would be sickened . . .

You mean the Lord Jesus Christ would . . .

Next time you read the Gospels note that the disciples of Christ NEVER addressed Him as simply "Jesus," always "Lord" or "Master". This is something Pentecostals tend to do alot of. It is a sign of undue familiarity with the Lord of Glory. (See Sir Robert Anderson's book by the same title which addresses this point

I happened to be watching my favorite television program, 24, the other day. There was a great line in it which I wish to repeat. The fictional President David Palmer was having a candid conversation with an aide who said, "David, I urge you to reconsider."

The fictional Palmer turned to him and said, "As long as I am the President of the United States, you will address me as Mr. President."

This may seem trivial to you but it is the crux of much of the false teaching from TBN which tends to view Christ from His humility rather than His resurrected glory, seeking ecstatic experiences from the Holy Spirit rather than His ministry of edification through Scripture.

Job was a pretty wealthy man as was Boaz. But they weren't virtuous people weren't they?

They were spectacular men, but we're not much like they are- are we. Speaking for myself- that much money would destroy me, and 99.9% of all other humans. They were rare finds.

It takes a good understanding of stewardship to be wealthy. God only makes you a steward not an owner. Consider Joseph who became the 2nd most powerful man in Egypt.

Yes, and both Joseph and job had to suffer considerably before they were given that much responsibility. Joseph used his power and wealth to bless his family, and the families all around. The Crouches take, and take and take. They build buildings, and put up satellites, and expand -their- kingdom, but ignore Jesus' kingdom.

Thanks. Not an argument- people can believe whatever they want. It just breaks my heart that the Crouches have deceived so many people. The Bible is full of passages about God blessing evil men. It never goes on forever though.

I am no fan of the Crouches but I admonish you as a brother in Christ that you better be 100% correct in your judgements of them or you will bear the full severity of your judgement in your life. It is an abomination to God to bear false witness against your neighbor and to slander others and He will vigorously judge you as you judge others. Something I learned painfully myself. I've been in Christ long enough to see God severely correct overly judgemental brethren who do this. He will make you pay.

These scriptural verses from Proverbs 17 strongly confirm it:

13Evil will not depart from the house of one who returns evil for good.
15One who justifies the wicked and one who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the LORD.
16Why should fools have a price in hand to buy wisdom, when they have no mind to learn?
19One who loves transgression loves strife; one who builds a high threshold invites broken bones.
20The crooked of mind do not prosper, and the perverse of tongue fall into calamity.
24The discerning person looks to wisdom, but the eyes of a fool to the ends of the earth.
25Foolish children are a grief to their father
and bitterness to her who bore them.
26To impose a fine on the innocent is not right,
or to flog the noble for their integrity.

Be very careful of making blanket judgements of folks.

AMEN, LS. All this televangelist bashing will be judged by God Himself. He warns us in His Word NOT to critize other brothers/sisters. When the lightning strikes, I hope I'm a safe distance away(smile).
