Arizona senator John McCain could win the 2008 presidential election in the United States, according to a poll by Zogby International. 52 per cent of respondents would vote for the Republican in a head-to-head contest against Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

In 2000, McCain won seven GOP presidential primaries in the U.S., but retired from the race after eventual nominee George W. Bush became the frontrunner.

Rodham Clinton was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2000, defeating Republican Rick Lazio by 12 per cent. She ruled out a presidential bid in 2004. 37 per cent of respondents would vote for the Democrat, while 11 per cent would back other candidates or remain undecided.

Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The next presidential election is scheduled for November 2008.

Exactly what I'm talking about. There are some liberals who hate Mrs. Clinton, but that doesn't mean they won't vote for her.

I wouldn't trust McCain even if he allowed Free Republic to write the platform.

It'll never come down to the 2 of them. If it did, I'd vote for the lesser of the 2 evils. I'll figure out which one that is when the time comes.

I think Giuliani would destroy Hillary in a national election, and he isnt that conservative. I also think Giuliani would turn NY red for that election cycle, that state loves him. If NY turned red, there is no WAY in hell a democrat can win, they would have to pickup 2 major red states to pull ahead, not going to happen.

The problem with the moonbats is that they are like lemmings.
They will follow the crowd.
They will vote AGAINST a Republican, no matter who the dimocRAT candidate happens to be.
It will be very difficult to field a Republican candidate who is acceptable to all Conservatives.

If it came down to McCain or Hillary im still going to vote. McCain is a better choice, but not by a whole lot. If he was on the ticket and there was no choice, id rather see him as a Vice.

I would vote for Jeff Sessions without Allen on the ticket. Coburn or Inhofe would be okay, however.

...the 27th Amendment to the Constitution will NEVER be repealed

No problem, as there is NOT a 27th amendment to the Constitution.

BTW, you are not playing this game very well. ;*) LOL

Guiliani chance was in the 2000 Senate race. He would not beat Mrs. Clinton in NY now.

"It will be very difficult to field a Republican candidate who is acceptable to all Conservatives."

It would never happen. I would say impossible. Conservative is such a broad brush. You have the right to life conservatives but dont care about government spending. You have those conservative on spending, but are pro choice, etc etc etc. You can never please them all.

Oh I think he would. There are a ton of other factors to consider. Hillary has a pres canditate is a totaly different situation. You have all that lovely dirt that will get dug up. For a the 1st female cand for president every ounce of dirt for her will do twice the damage. I hope she wins the democrat ticket, it will be a field day with the headlines. Guiliani has 1 serious piece of dirt, the whole leaving his wife for another women.

Newsmax also cited polls that Giuliani would handily defeat her.
