THIS is what the war is all about. And Steyn is right: we're losing.

Most depressing.
This article, makes me want to buy lots of gold and guns.
We are at war, a war that many do not see. I hope Steyn is wrong.

This seems much the same view as Pat Buchanan has been expounding for the last ten years. Mark S. seems to have written off Europe--or at least most of it. It will be interesting to see if a major backlash develops on that continent to the Islamic tsunnami. Certainly the left doesn't seem capable of self-preservation. The US might be the lynch pin, but it might take a new civil war to achieve a non-suicidal society.

If a backlash to the Islamic tsunami is to occur, it will take Europe (and liberalism in the USA) abandoning many of its core values--I don't think that will happen.

We need to CHOP taxes so that families larger than 2 or 3 are no longer the province of the wealthy, the eccentric, and those on welfare.

Yep. it's called the jizya. All dhimmis are required to pay. Failure to do so is considered a just cause for execution, rape, or torture. I note that Steyn unfortunately continues to indulge in the myth that jihad is some sort of radical idea of a few "Islamofascists", when in fact it is as central to Islam as the resurrection is to Christianity.

It was a great article: make sure you do make the attempt to read it.

I did read quite a bit and it is very good. I'll read the rest later.

Thanks for the ping, g_w. Steyn is first-rate...and mostly correct, I fear. I wonder, though, whether muslims are going to be able to master the skills necessary to run the modern world when they inherit it. Right now, they look through the window and covet what's inside (or firebomb the cars parked on the street outside), but they don't seem to possess the ability to produce what's inside for themselves. Will that change? I wonder.
Happy New Year, my friend...

our tolerance of our own tolerance is making us intolerant of other peoples intolerance, which is intolerable. And, unlikely as it sounds, this has now become the highest, most rarefied form of multiculturalism. So youre nice to gays and the Inuit? Big deal. Anyone can be tolerant of fellows like that, but tolerance of intolerance gives an even more intense frisson of pleasure to the multiculti masochists. In other words, just as the AIDS pandemic greatly facilitated societal surrender to the gay agenda, so 9/11 is greatly facilitating our surrender to the most extreme aspects of the multicultural agenda. OMG, I fear Steyn's on to something here...

Doing my part to fight for the west :)
I proudly served my country until injuries cut my military career short, now I have 4 children and one on the way, This might actual work out in out benefit as at least in the Midwest it's the conservatives that have large families all the liberal snobs are to busy for a child or only have one then get fixed so they are breeding themselves out of existence

And yes, I am aware that the West suffers from a lack of confidence in it's intrinsic "rightness" and moral authority. Combine that with a declining birthrate and you have real trouble...But not until Tuesday!

We need to CHOP taxes so that families larger than 2 or 3 are no longer the province of the wealthy, the eccentric, and those on welfare. The only people that can afford large families are very rich or the very poor.
