'United States planning a military strike against Iran'

The United States government reportedly began coordinating with NATO its plans for a possible military attack against Iran.

The German daily Der Spiegel collected various reports from the German media indicating that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization are examining the prospects of such a strike.

According to the report, CIA chief Porter Gus, in his last visit to Turkey on December 12, requested Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to provide military bases to the United States in 2006 from where they would be able to launch an assault.

The German news agency DDP also noted that countries neighboring Iran, such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, and Pakistan were also updated regarding to supposed plan. American sources sent to those countries apparently mentioned an aerial attack as a possibility, but did not provide a time frame for the operation.

Although Der Spiegel could not say that these plans were concrete, they did note that according to a January 2005 New Yorker report American forces had entered Iran in 2005 in order to mark possible targets for an aerial assault.

LMAO

These people think it is a piece of cake to overthrow a well entrenched revolutionary government like the one that is ruling Iran today!

Continue to improve anti-ballistic missile defenses in the USA and in Israel without stopping. Then let western Europe take care of its own problem with Iran.

I hope the corrupt Russians and Chinese enjoy the show.

Chimpy's little black triangles will take care of this "problem." They won't see or hear a damned thing.

"Reagan, well, this crap wouldn't even be happening if Reagan were President."
Iran-Contra crap happened on RWR's watch, IIRC.

Jimmy Carter would talk the issue to death, speak about America's 'national malaise', and then send a half-hearted, unsupported strike team into Iran and then, after screwing things up hopelessly, he'd look deep into his soul and find a way to screw it up even more.

Then he'd put the cherry on the Sundae by sending out Ramsey Clark to sue the family members of the military personnel who died...

Considering Sy Hersh and the other Bush haters were saying Bush was going to invade Iran LAST January, I'd say you are right. But Allah forbid any of them admit they were wrong and apologize to Bush.

Of course there won't be much left of the delivery point afterwards. But, hey, you can't have everything.

You mean like this: The new U.S. Above-Ground Nuclear Test Site, conveniently located in the former city of Tehran...?

Now, to get a Go Order is a different deal.

Actually, it's pretty easy, I'll demonstrate:

"Would you like French Victory fries with that?"

heh-heh. I was alluding to his famous discussion of nuclear disarmament policy with his daughter Amy(then 12, IIRC) over corn flakes one morning.

Pretty poorly designed fake article.

Plus, last time I looked, neither Saudi or Jordan was "neighboring" Iran. But then, this is second hand from "Der Spiegel," the German equivalent of Newsweek, so it's pretty much a mess.

Was that not a marvelous, marvelous day?

A few weeks before RR's inauguration, my family all chipped in for a VHS recorder (cost $1,100.00 then!) so that we could record the event. I still get goosebumps when I play it back and see the 52 hostages disembarking from the plane at the Air Force Base in Germany.

I don't think military planning against Iran is in the United States Constitution.

You are kidding, right? I think military planning for any contingency and against any conceivable enemy is required by the Constitution.

I sure hope we have an attack plan for every country that is or might become an enemy. Wouldn't it be really stupid if we had no plans?

Re your #30: "..And Comrade Klintoon would sell them our defense and technology secrets."

You mean the Chicoms haven't sold them to Iran already?

I have little doubt that the Klintoons still have their "sources" deep within the intel industry who keep them apprised of the latest secrets - for their fun, profit, or blackmail of their detractors/Political opponents whenever or however they see fit.

Did Hittlary ever give back those 700-some FBI files she stole?
Didn't think so.
Wanna bet she still has them regularly updated by her FBI moles?

Will you be surprised if Hitlarry gets a nice fat campaign contribution (indirectly, of course) from the PRC?

I won't.

They might be out of the White House, but they are very much still in Town, and not to be left out of any equasion involving world politics.

You know, I'm beginning to wonder if Al Jazeera has bought out the NYT and they just haven't told us about the acquisition yet?

Is anyone else beginning to see clues, here?

Porter Gus?

Goss' undercover name. I hear he moonlights as Porter Waggoner on the weekends.
