Just announced on Fox News, the Justice Department is going to investigate leaks pertaining to Goverment Wiretapping and Security programs.
700 + posts...what have I missed....just got in.
Step one is accomplished in my view. This was done perhaps 2 weeks ago. On the Saturday of the unprecedented TV/radio address it was in process IMHO

For instance?
Not much. The announcement of the DOJ investigation was made this morning. The White House was said to be making a statement, but so far no go.
I'm just jumping in here too. No report yet from Crawford?
FOX is now claiming that it was them that forced the DOJ for the investigation and that's BS. It was sites like FR calling for action the day we first learned about it.
Actually the White House did make a statement through Trent Duffy, Dilfer or someone....Basically that the President approves of this investigation, but that it is not being done at the request of the White House.
FWIW, I smell panic in the air. Just an impression :) And that short but sweet screed released a while ago by the ACLU was way, way over the top. Someone's stepped in it. Big time.
I pray that Pelosi was one of the leakers. What a delight it would be to see her doing the perp walk!
You've got a bit to catch up on, but basically there is not a lot of details in 700 posts. Investigation of NSA leak and probably the same of the WP leak of the E. Europe prisons.
In addition to the reporter, there should be a conspiring editor and publisher.
CNN Situation Room is in full "whistleblower" mode.
They have the Democrat talking points in hand.
Bernie Kerik is on Cavuto right now...
and he is STEAMED about these leaks.
He is being asked if HE knew about this surveillance program..and he said, YES...he also said that he has known about attacks that have been prevented by these surveillance operations...but not this particular one in the NYTimes..
BUT, he cannot speak specifically...since HE respects the need for national security.

You know I seriously doubt that this will go anywhere. The dems will circle the wagons, the press will cover them and turn it all back on Bush. I'm firmly convinced they will do everything to impeach him, and may get as far as the Clinton impeachment.

LOL---I am the same way...didn't know of this thread until a while ago..and don't want to get further behind, by reading the previous 700 posts..
I was doing some google searches today and it "appears" one of the things being touted is NSA recorded conversations between Bill Richardson and Colin Powell after the visit of the North Koreans to New Mexico to meet with Richardson... and the "story" in the New Mexico paper goes on to say that Richardson was asked about this a while back on Fox news and just as he was going to respond the screen went black and Fox said the "satellite went down."
In my same search I stumbled on a site that makes the DU seem tame -- actually trashes the DU -- and they claim they are "receiving leaks from CIA/NSA, etc., all the time... this is one way out site and scary that people think this way -- much less to think it's even possible they would be getting leaks out of our intelligence agencies:

I second that and not a year from now. Lib radio is going nuts because DOJ is going after the 1st amendment fighter the leaker, rather than the real criminal - evil Bush who is spying on them!! You go Bush and DOJ - hope your net catches a few LIBS.
