and don't discount Freepers either. We've been adding about 10 per day for the last couple of days, and there are quite a few who haven't shown up on the scoreboard yet... As you say the true movement comes when we morph from 100+ to 200 then 500 Freepers. Right now it's perhaps a little geekie to many of them. But if anyone is reading this and wondering, it's super easy.

Well I have two CPUs (amassing 2.8 GHz) on the project, just out of a sense of spite for DUmmyland.

Put your computer on auto-pilot, and let it thumb it's nose at them, while you sleep peacefully at night.... and welcome to the team !!

I've got two boxes running today generating 3.6 ghz. But Tuesday I shut one down when I go back to work. Unfortunately, corporate policy is very strict and I can't run anything on my work 'puter. No worries, most DU's don't have jobs, or simple flip burgers and thus don't have a work 'puter.

and don't discount Freepers either. My desktop will finish it's first unit in 13 hours, my laptop in 20. My son's "gaming box" is already working on it's 3rd.

Long ago, when SETI@home first started, I was the IT Department manager for a F100 company. I jokingly asked if I could install SETI on all the computers.
The CFO wanted to know what the company got out of it. I noted that it was fair advertising, since our company name would be listed as a team (or a single user) but that was shot down; "What if it turns out to be a useless endeavor, do we really want our shareholders to wonder what we were doing?"
I suggested we could put it all under my own account and run it that way. All the good for me, it was pointed out, but what does the company get out of it? I suggested that accounting might want to look at the concept of writing off 60% of the cost of operating the computers in the company as a donation. The CFO's eyes lit up and two days later I was crunching through 8900 units a day.
Would that I was in a similar situation today, but you might want to simply ask someone in accounting if they desire a write off. Last I checked, Stanford was an institution that donations could be made to, and sixty percent of the electric bill for the computers is one heck of a big chunk of change for most corporations. A creative accountant might even come up with a bigger donation write-off.
Just a thought...

Just added another pair of CPUs to the stack; should have eight online by the end of the weekend, nine by the end of next week (need to upgrade the wife's computer first.)

In case some haven't noticed, it appears that Stanford's servers are having problems updating statistics. Extreme overclocking missed a cycle, so there's going to be a "blip" in the updates, and the team page at folding.stanford.edu won't completely load.
It still looks like we'll reach the top 900 sometime tommorrow though.

Pretty slick move... but that's the corporate world.
My situation, I'm with a school district, so there is really no write-offs available.... We're on a fixed price contract for electric, so the few cents per day increase in cost for power won't affect us, and the Super is cool with this, as long as I don't advertise the District name ( but reserving the right to have me change them all over, if someone else in the state does it, and he wants to score publicity (the meetoo) points )...
Other than that, he concedes the fact that I own and operate every workstation in the District (with the exception of his..), and if I want to use them for a good cause, he's got no heartburn with it.

My 3750 WU checked in early = WOOHOO! It originally wasn't due to end until Jan 2nd. Glad to contribute before the year ended! I've just started a new one, a 50 WU.
And - how do we find out how many points the WU's are worth again? I can't find the thread with that link - and if it's in this one - I missed it!
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!

I ran DU's stats and several others. All were last updated at the same time, 20:12.
Maybe it's Stanford? I've got 4 yellow and 2 red envelopes...again. BUT, the sourceforge is updating just fine.
:O)
