I would sooner do my own vasectomy than watch a parade. I will never understand the attraction.

I've seen the Rose parade. It was wonderful and amazing in person. Much better than on TV and our seats were where some of the networks were stationed. We even spotted something the TV cameras missed. The Cal Polytechnic float, annually one of the more animated ones came by and there were a bunch of students from there stationed on the far side from the TV cameras. As the float passed it hosed the students down with a hidden water fire extinguisher. The media never noticed it.

I'm not sure that was the longest parade I've ever seen. The parade for Jesse James Days, on the centennial of his 1876 attempt to rob Northfield MN, took 3 hours to pass through downtown Northfield. Pretty impressive for a less than 10 block downtown; I still don't know where they queued them. It even included Miss America (who happened to be a student at the *other* college in town.
