"Why anybody would pander to the worst hate-mongers of the 1960s by continuing this nonsense is beyond me."
Cerebral deficit.

Next year will the President display the National Festivus Pole? Will feel left out if he didn't.

I thought they were in San Francisco. Nevermind.

It is interesting to note that all 7 principles are flat out bedrock communist, even what they call "faith".

So any *Yahoo* can make up a National Holiday that the government will observe?
Maybe Howard Stern will come up with Happy Sirrus Day and all will celebrate!
How goofball....

Now I'm confused. Is Kwanzaa the holiday where Tookie Williams comes down the chimney and leaves gifts of corn and Marxism for all the little girls and boys?

The government didn't "observe" the holiday.

"Has he invited a throng of Kwanzaa celebrants to the White House for a little jawboning?"
Um, there is no throng of Kwanzaa celebrants.

(a nice chap who used to beat his girlfriends with electric cords and burn their faces and mouths with hot irons). You left out the toe-crushing, poisoning, and the old "toaster over the head".
But hey, the guy wrote a book or two, so he deserves a break...just like the tookster.

IMO Oberving IS by wishing everyone *Happy Kawanza Day* why even mention it?

people around the world reflect on African heritage during Kwanzaa Really? Where?
I googled Kwanza and Jamaica and only 1 article appeared from a local paper about the "American" holiday.
One of the first article found about the US celebration was about a Kwanza celebration being canceled due to lack of participation:
http://www.pjstar.com/stories/122805/TRI_B8HJVT5S.032.shtml
I did find 1 celebration story about the US Virgin Islands. Does that make it "around the world"?
Undeterred I kept looking, surely there would be Kwanza in Africa and I was right! I found Kwanza in Angola!!! But it wasn't a holiday, it was a province... Kwanza-Sul province.
My question for Bush: Why not say Happy Holiday like you did on my Christmas card

Every now and then President Bush does something that is just inane. This is one of those times.
Linking this tomfoolery out of the State Department was appropriate

How can he do it with a straight face? The same way he claims that 'Islam is a religion of Peace', that's how.
