I have a problem with my pickup truck. It starts first thing in the morning, but if I shut the engine off for a few minutes (less than 15) it won't start. I MAY get a "tik-tik-tik" and then nothing, or I may get nothing.

A jump start won't do anything during that time.

Is it: the starter, the battery, or a short in the wiring to and/or from the ignition to something else?

No to all. Your battery is okay. Your starter is likely okay. It could be some kind of "computer" or electrical problem related to the electric choke.

Battery. Starter wire. Ground. Something like that. Not enough juice making it to the starter to kick it over. Could be that sitting over night is enough for the battery to "catalyize" enough juice to turn it over once in the morning.

Take it in and have them check the battery with a scope or a battery hydrometer (about $3 at a auto parts store for a hydrometer gradiated for lead/acid batteries).
