That's why God invented baseball bats. Am thinking about a nice sword but cannot make up my mind which style. Suppose a short sword makes most sense but a nice battle axe has such a"YOU ARE GOING TO DIE SCREAMING IN PAIN" look to it.....

Yeah but I would take the short sword or even a knife against a battle ax any day. You need too much room to swing and while you are raising it you are totally open to a rush and stab.
Anything you can jab will beat something that you swing in one on one hand to hand.

My daughter has a collection of swords. Some are longer than she is tall. Others are short. But I don't think she knows what to do with any of them... I don't think the navy used swords in Basic...
