China will never go down, and don't think you can banish communism. Because the people won't let it. They know they are the last standing, they are the only ones left. America is in a decline while China's climaxing, America will go down. We are just done with our prime, if anything, we were going into a depression since 1992 (and don't say you don't know that year). Communism is the American's medias' worst nightmare, because of censorship. I hope we all have to read one newspaper and wipe my butt with one brand of tiolet paper. I hope we all die for our next generations to wear the red armband. We deserved 9/11, and they enjoyed it. You probably hate me now, I know, you just still think like its 1945, well too bad its 2005. We only stand to fall.
Funny how that works... : )
Good luck. See y'all tomorrow...
Au revoir, D C
After living in Tucson for a year, I was almost in shock when I saw Vegas. Tucson is green all year round, but Vegas is definitely having "winter." It's all ugly and brown, except on the Strip.
I should have remembered that from when I lived here before...:o|
Never thought about it. My brother has a friend in Las Vegas who's encouraging him to move there when he comes back from England, but I don't think he's going to. My parents would like him to live somewhere in the East, within a few hours flight, after 14 years in Europe!
See you!
Yah...I can see where your folks would want your brother close enough to visit. Fourteen years is a long time to be out of the country.
Yes, and Dad's not in as good health as he used to be ... memory loss and so forth.
And I don't think my brother's new wife, who is English, would love Las Vegas! The U.S. in general will probably be enough of a shock for her!
Oddly enough, there are a lot of Northern Europeans who really like the desert, and Vegas in particular. Of course, they don't understand water rationing, but still...
Besides: Everything is Vegas is air-conditioned. Everything. So people who like it cool can have it cool. The worst thing about Vegas is the cigarette smoke. I can't fly into and out of McCarran because the smoke does a job to my sinuses for days.
Nevada actually has the most smokers per capita than any other state. Now THERE'S a calim to fame!
Interesting. I don't know whether my sister-in-law smokes or not. My brother doesn't.
And to keep the state-trivia alive: Arizona has more boats per capita, and Utah has more horses!!
I think I got all that from the Bathroom Reader...;o]
Fascinating - boats in Arizona!
Well, we ARE next to the Colorado River...:o]
Is there a lot of boating on the Colorado? Reservoirs and stuff?
There are several lakes, quite a few dams and lots of recreation areas. You actually can't drive anywhere in AZ without seeing a store that caters to boaters. Fishing is big, too, of course.
I hadn't given it any thought, but it makes sense. Most states seem to have lots of big Interior Department or Corps of Engineers lakes.
The original London Bridge is currently spanning part of the Colorado River, at a place called Lake Havasu City. There is a little English village there, complete with maze, so if your brother's wife gets TOO homesick, they can always visit there!
Some of these lakes are caused by the dams on the river, but we also have a lot of natural lakes. Most of them are found in the White Mountains to the east.
It's been more than 30 years since I've been to Arizona. It sounds nicer than I remember; we must have been in the really desert part!
That part is probably now all cotton fields. The AZ deserts are MUCH greener than the NV deserts. Odd how the difference is noticible as soon as you cross the river...it may have been that your car had no A/C as you crossed the desert. That ALWAYS makes the desert "dryer and hotter."
