"I demand we withdraw our astronauts immediately!"
Instead, Sheila Jackson Lee wants our astronaunts to leave Mars and swing by the moon to check things out!

On Earth, it would have made a very nice, bright shooting star before it burned up.
Thank you God for giving us an atmosphere.

12cm is half an inch? Must be that new math. ;^)
For most Americans, millimeter, centimeter

The risks of being directly hit are probably not that
much different than being on the shuttle or ISS.
This event did raise awareness of a larger risk for
those on the lunar surface, secondary impacts from the
ejecta of the primary impact (and tertiary if the primary
was sufficiently large).

I thought that looked like 'Space 1999!' I loved that show! ;) When it first went on in 1975 the end of the century seemed so far away.

ROTF!!! Loved that show! When I lived in Italy in the late Seventies, that show was on RAI - dubbed in Italian, of course. We watched it every time it was on, because we couldn't believe how bad it was. We thought something was lost in translation, but when we got back to the States and saw reruns, it made even less sense :).
The thing I remember most about the show was the Italian promo announcer saying "Spazio: Mille Novecento Novantanove". Italian is a great language.
