Release A051220c
Terrorist bomb detonates on bombers
TIKRIT, Iraq One terrorist was killed and another severely injured when the improvised explosive device they were attempting to emplace detonated prematurely. The incident occurred Dec. 19, near the city of Tikrit.
Tikrit police and Soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Divisions 1st Brigade Combat Team responded to the explosion. The police officers performed first-aid on the injured bomber, who was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The IED was composed of a 155 mm artillery shell and a detonating device, according to an explosives ordnance team investigating the explosion.
Soldiers searching the area discovered another artillery round and several other IED components in a nearby vehicle.
In addition to the wounded bomber, two other men were detained for allegedly attempting to help the surviving bomber avoid the responding security forces.

There's been rumors of Israelis driving around in vans broadcasting signals that cause bombs being built by Pallie terrorists to prematurely go kaboom. I haven't heard anything real definite, but there are rumors.

... the improvised explosive device they were attempting to emplace... Oh, they didn't read the instructions carefully. "Emplace," not "embrace."

It's my sincere hope they continue to bang the shovel against the arty shell as they bury it.

I know we must not stoop to their level (I really do) but it would be very satisfying if they allowed the Iraqis to parade whatever is left of their bodies through the streets.

Yep, and the bad guys learned real quick not to use car alarms and garage door transmitters for their work. After a few "unexplained" premature detonations they figured out that a high power broad spectrum transmitter on the known frequencies plays havoc on their IED builders.

I don't know. There are two ways to follow that. First, you really have to question the intelligence of someone who would do it in the first place. This leads one to think that the really stupid ones are the ones who step up first, the rest being too smart to do it. However, you can also argue that the ones that continue to volunteer are too stupid to learn.
It's an arggument over who is more stupid, Bevis or Butthead.

That sounds like a good tactic. When the coalition troops discover a weapons cache they should rig the IED's so they explode prematurely. The terrorists will be afraid to handle their IED's after a few go off.
To: Excuse_My_Bellicosity
I wonder if that is covered under Workman's Comp Insurance.

LOL, one of the advantages of not having OSHA for bombers.

I've wondered why the US couldn't employ a scanning xmitter that scanned the cell phone freqs.
