HOUSTON The wife of the pastor of the nation's largest church was asked to leave a plane after she failed to comply with a flight attendant's instructions, the FBI said Tuesday.
Houston Lakewood Church pastor Joel Osteen, his wife, Victoria, and their two children boarded a Continental Airlines flight from Houston to Vail, Colo., Monday. The plane's door had been closed when Victoria Osteen and a flight attendant had a disagreement.
"She failed to comply with the flight attendant's instructions, and they were asked to leave the flight," FBI spokeswoman Luz Garcia said without elaborating on the disagreement.
The FBI reviewed a report from Continental after the incident, Garcia said. No charges will be filed, she said.
The flight was delayed more than an hour while the Osteens' luggage was retrieved, Garcia said. The family took another flight to Colorado, where church spokesman Don Iloff said they were skiing Tuesday.
Iloff called the disagreement with the flight attendant "minor" but would not say what happened.
"In semantics, they might have been asked to be removed," he said. "Really, it was more of a mutual thing."
Continental spokeswoman Julie King would not discuss the disagreement but said in a statement that the situation was resolved.
Osteen's sermons are broadcast across the country and his book "Your Best Life Now" has become a best seller. His church has more than 30,000 worshippers weekly and meets in a renovated arena where the Houston Rockets once played.
Why do you think FR is so popular?
I am by far a perfect christian, with that said. this name it claim it boloney prosperity gospel i have had enough of. I gave everything i had before in beliving this crap.... Sure God honored my giving but not in $$$$....
When i first read this i was so sick because i have been reading alot lately of our persecuted brothers and sisters In Iran etc. Being hung upside down, beat with iron rods.. impaled, thrown in sewage with rats to get them to renounce christ and they wont !!!!! and Mrs osteen complains about a wet seat.. ( now i know shes human like the rest of us ) BUTTTTTTTT They are in such a spotlight .. :(
May God touch her heart and she makes an humble apology to all aware of this story
I would have gotten huffy as well.
They should have given her a towel or blanket to put in the seat.
I certainly don't recall the Bible telling us that "God will meet your every WANT." I DO remember it saying he will meet your every NEED."
Joel has had many best-selling books. He does not use tithed money to go skiing.
Plus Joel's income from writing best selling books. So much jealously around here.
Im not jealous, I truly know what its like to be homeless and to live in plenty.
Shortly after detection of the passive voice, alarm bells were audible...
"...But I'm not going to condemn those people. I tell them all the time our church is open for everybody."
As long as they bring their checkbooks.
The flight attendant had cleaned it, if it wasn't up to Queen Victoria Osteen's standards she could have gotten a cocktail napkin and some more water and cleaned it some more. I guess Queen Victoria wanted the seat steam cleaned.
Good, he earned it from writing best selling books.
He also doesn't teach that the only way to heaven is through jesus.
Joel tends to be overly tolerant of other religion, but he does teach that jesus is our saviour.
He also doesn't seem to beleive in sin. He is just a motivational speaker masquerading as a pastor.
Joel is more of a motivational speaker splinkled with some Biblical teaching. It is more of a Church-lite teaching. But Joel seems to be effective at what he does. Certainly wouldn't listened to Joel to get a deep insight into the Bible, but then again if he can bring millions of people to Christ it is a good thing.
Section 46504 Title 49 USC gives the flight attendants
pretty broad leeway.
LOL.
I'm assuming the use of passive voice means Ms Osteen herself spilled the "soda" (or one of her children).
I'm guessing Victoria spilled the drink and the stews were readying the plane for takeoff. Vicky decides to get up and demand service.
I'm also guessing Lucy gonna have some splainin to do. If the church decides to attack the airline, the airline will have to defend itself. The church will get hurt. If they fire the stew, she's going to talk. Bad for the church again. If Vicky has to eat the blame, we will get a healthy dose of "venting" about air travel from the church to make it look like everyone does this.
Walks like a duck, etc
AMEN, guess even ski bunnies have souls worth saving...She should have chartered Benny Hinn's jet...
I don't follow it that close. I've mainly talked to FORMER members about why they left. My brother-in-law for one. Older members usually stick for some reason, but I have no real info on them.
"Why do you think FR is so popular?"
People can make outrageous statements and argue anonymously?/sarc lol
