I work out 5 times a week so I can frequently imbibe, without worrying about my waistline. Damn well worth it!

Light beer makes no sense to me. It tastes bad. If you need to drink more try bourbon or gin.

Danke schon! I know approximately 4 German words, so I found an English translation (URL below).

No matter what you think of light beer (and I concur with the vast majority on this thread that it's pretty poor stuff), give Mr. Owades credit, at least in the areas of marketing and cash flow enhancement. Not only does light beer take smaller amounts of barley, yeast, and hops to produce; people tend to drink more of it. At, generally speaking, the same price as "regular" beer (in fact, if memory serves, it used to cost
more), light beer is a boon to brewers. As the marketing campaign of a certain non-light beer says: "Brilliant!"
Ditto light cigarettes, by the way. They are lower in tar and nicotine at least in part because they contain less tobacco. And, like light beer, their bland taste makes them an ideal entry-level product.
In fact, "light" products of all sorts -- margarine, cheese, soy sauce, bread, even hot dogs -- generally cost the same as their "regular" counterparts, even though stretched with cheaper ingredients such as water, gelatin, or even air.

Thankfully, there are thousands of breweries big and small around the globe creating an endless supply of real beer and ales for real people to enjoy.
Thankfully, there are free market enterprises that produce products that people want to BUY for
real people in spite of arrogant, ignorant comments like yours. I don't eat veggie burgers or Sweet-n-Low, and don't drive a Prius, nor am I an empty and unsatisfying metrosexual slacker, I'm over 30 and don't live with mom. I happen to be a sommelier (that means my palate is professionally certified) with decades of experience who on occasion enjoys beer that does not resemble carbonated motor oil, or a bitter brew that does resemble an experiment thousands of years ago.
And finally although your comments are likely intended humorous, to rejoice at the death of someone because of a relative success of an invention says more about you than it does Mr. Owades.
