This is a remarkable event because I remember La. being in the running for a SuperCollider whatever it's called thingy ma-jig...atom smasher.

The location for the SSC was to be, if not in, very near to Livingston Parish...the parish where the 3.0 quake to place today. The area's most touted characteristic was that it 'never' has earthquakes. Oops.

This is all from my imperfect memory. I believe Texas eventually got the SSC.

Just thought this was interesting.

Funny to see the SSC come up. We lived in DeSoto TX about the time they withdrew funding for it. It wasn't a pretty thing to see. I believe the location was closer to Waxahatchee, but most of the scientists kids went to school in Desoto (Which is just south of Dallas).
