The Gulf Coast is sinking into the ocean. That's not a new development. It's been doing it for thousands of years. In some places, like New Orleans, it's more pronounced, often made worse by overuse of well water.
As the coast subsides, it will do so unevenly, and earthquakes will result. It's not the sign of a major earthquake fault. It's just temporary settling of a block of underground rock.

Blanco responds, "Where's the federal assistance! Where's FEMA! How long does it take for us to get some help around here!

"Now that's a good one. Maybe sinkholes will start popping up on the sacred ground that Ms.H walked on."
One does have to wonder if she is down there to buy up some cheap real estate, she was very fond of timesharing campgrounds in Arkansas

Interesting in light of the "mystery booms" that were heard a couple of days ago.

I didn't feel a thing.
Course, I'm 29 miles ESE.

Quakes in the open country are much more widespread than those in CA. A big one near New Madrid will cause much more damage than the same quake in CA.

Funny to see the SSC come up. We lived in DeSoto TX about the time they withdrew funding for it. It wasn't a pretty thing to see. I believe the location was closer to Waxahatchee, but most of the scientists kids went to school in Desoto (Which is just south of Dallas).

I dunno... seems like this would be around Hammond or Ponchatoula. Definitely not a black area. Lots of White Christians though.

Another misfire from the Rovian Disaster MachineTM (RDM). Looks like it's time to shut it down for annual maintenance.
