The Fox News channel recently reported that the Senate had decided to extend the Act for six months. I'm not entirely up to speed on the "conference report", or the latest version of the Act, though as I understand it, 14 of 16 provisions would become permanent.

It's frightening to know that too many don't care about the intrusion on personal liberties. In the next six months, I hope that our concerns will be addressed. I guess the House has to come back now to agree (or not?) to the extension?

Todays R's are for the most part big government, open borders, socialism light policy makers. I will take the risk that comes with liberty rather than the tyranny that comes with a sense of security

Every day there is some new dire threat or bogeyman to justify in their minds and 90% of the sheep peeling back the Constitution, what the sheep and bootlickers fail to realize is that no amount of intelligence gathering will be able to prevent the people that can really hurt us from carrying out their attacks, they already know not to use any electronic means to communicate. I would bet 70% off all intercepts are disinformation or probes. The only type that these infringements on the constitution could catch are the low hanging fruit that are pretty much idiots anyway probably used by the real deal as bait and to calculate our response.

I will give Bush credit the bug zapper theory in Iraq is working great, the muzzies just can't resist flying into the meat grinder I think that us occupying Iraq is such a black eye to the muzzies that all efforts are being directed there as we are showing the world what girely boys that the "battle hardened" (MSM term) jihads are and how ineffective the "brave figthers" are. It is probably a lot harder to recruit muzzie terrorists now that we have given them a big public black eye as to their cowardly tactics (They only go after soft targets now and are killing other muzzies)

Nope. They can fail on 90% of the attempts and be happy with that result for the damage we'll do to ourselves in response.

Yup. That he deserves, although I'd bet it wasn't planned that way.

Yup. It sucks.

In the next six months, I hope that our concerns will be addressed.

That's up to us. At least we know the Congress tipped its hand. I'd sure like to know who slipped those ugly provisions into the Senate version.

I guess the House has to come back now to agree (or not?) to the extension?

Yep. Done deal.

Thanks for the post Simo.. I had missed that news.. I am rather dashing to and fro with Christmas baking at this moment.

And a point there is made as well, Congress thinks we are not watching. Sorry critters... you got your raises and complain about cuts elsewhere.. cry me a river baby.

Anyway..........:)

Personally, I think 6 months is too long.. considering the midterm campaigns. Both sides will politicize and kick the can down the road, and that is not ever good. They'll do the same with illegal immigration. WE the People will have to force their hand now in their public commitments to protect the Constitution FOR THE PEOPLE etc. We will not allow wishy-washy platitudes and fear rhetoric to sway us. This is our last chance in '06 to clean house. 2008 will be too late.

I hope that Sen. Craig comes to the camera often to press his concerns and press for early debate.. not again, letting the President wait till the last minute, to shove bad law, permanent law, down the throats of Americans, (and Democrats/s) .

Yeah, three months would have been adequate. As I recall, the Congress members from Idaho have taken a stand before, correct me if I'm wrong, to no avail. I don't see what's so patriotic about trampling over the Bill of Rights and all this talk about a wall.

If Able Danger is an indicator of willingness to pursue terrorists, then another excuse will be found to enact another measure meant to keep us safe.

I share your cynicism. Still, we have gained a reprieve, so we should use it wisely.

Apparently, you only pay attention to the subject when start the insult game and suffer the same. Now, we are on the same SIDE. Glad you woke up.

Don't take credit for something to which you aren't entitled. I gave you the benefit of the doubt. Seeing how you responded tells me all I need to know should I encounter you on a thread in the future.
