President: After 9/11, I knew we were fighting a different kind of war. So I asked people in my admin. to analyze how best to do the job people expected us to do. WHich is to prevent another attack.

We looked at the possible scenarios and the people responsible for helping us protect the country came forth with the current program because it enables us to move faster and quicker. And that's important. We have to be quick to prevent an attack.

We use FISA's still. I then asked if it's legal to do so. I swore to uphold the laws. The answer came back - absolutely. The legal authority is derived from the Constitution and the authorization of force by the US Congress.

I hate questions that start "Some lawmakers/people say..."

You can be sure it's a bogus question.
