Kuala Lumpur, Dec 18 - A British parliamentarian from the Respect party, George Galloway, here Saturday said that Iran is entitled to peaceful nuclear activity.

Speaking to IRNA in an exclusive interview on the sidelines of the Perdana Global Peace Forum at Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, he asked, "why should Iran be denied the right to nuclear activities for peaceful purposes, if other countries are given such a right?"

Known for being frank and outspoken, Galloway said that international laws give all states the right to peaceful use of nuclear energy and that neither US President George W. Bush nor others have the right to deprive Iran of it.

"What is forbidden, should be applicable to all. It is not possible to consider something improper for others and at the same time proper for ourselves," he added.

The Bitish MP referred to such moves merely as pretexts and said that Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair attempt to attack Iran and that these are just pretexts and mechanisms used by them.

He expressed his concern over possible military attack against Iran and Syria and said that if the current process continues and the lawless actions of the American and British leaders are not stopped, these assaults would be unavoidable.

In his remarks on the first day of the Global Peace Forum on Thursday, Galloway introduced Bush and Blair as individuals responsible for the war and insecurity in the world and that the democracy advocated by the US and British administration is killing and bloodshed in the world.

"If the killing of several individuals in London, New York and Paris is taken as terrorism, taking the lives of thousands of innocent people in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon should also be declared as terrorist acts."

The British member of parliament noted that the al-Qaeda terrorist network and Bin Ladan have been trained by the US intelligence centers, adding that everyone remembers who dispatched Bin Ladan to Afghanistan from Saudi Arabia.

Accusing the heads of White House of lying and abusing the concepts of freedom, democracy and campaign against terrorism, Galloway said, "White House policies will lead humanity to annihilation."

Galloway is the perfect model for the make-up artist to use for an arch-villian in the next 007-Bond movie.

Perhaps Mr. Galloway's Oil-For-Food stash of bribe money is running low, and he is now shilling for the Iranians?

Why doesn't he move to Iran or Syria.

I love it when they talk about how wonderful things are in the ME, from the comfort of their western homes.

Evidently, he can be bought by anyone. It's a shame the British people didn't buy him. Then he might have represented them instead of their enemies, for a change.

Western Civilization is doomed unless we make sure that traitors such as "Haw Haw" Galloway are dangling from nooses.

Along with technologies such as nuclear that have a very obvious global impact comes global social responsibility and statements by the Iranian president that Israel must be wiped from the map is a very public display of sentiments shared by many and is not socially responsible at all.

Why doesn't he move to Iran or Syria.

He will eventually end up for good in a country with no extradition treaty.

While I certainly respect- no pun intended- the right to oppose Mr Galloway's political views, I find it distasteful that repudiations of him have to take the vein of libellous, demonstrably incorrect, ad hominem slurs.

Of course, none of the alleged elements of his private life bear any pretinence to a discussion of his critique of the Iranian 'crisis'- by which standard virtually all of the discourse on the subject of Galloway is tangibly off-topic.

Galloway is, without any possible doubt, the most scrutinised of British politicians; over his lengthy political career the accusations of being in the pay of various Middle Eastern organisations have been brought against him, in the court and in the Senate, and all have failed- indeed in British court all said accusers have been found guilty of unjustly accusing him in this manner, all thus by a British legal system that is decidedly not friendly towards Galloway's political stance.

It is quite certain that Mr Galloway is a hard-line socialist, and if he is to be attacked on this basis all well and good. Nevertheless claims of wrong-doing on his behalf have repeatedly been proven to be false in a court of law, and to continue to present them is simply an outright falsehood, which political discussion ought to be above.

Defending Galloway is probably not the best way to make a debut here.

While one can appreciate the legalistic defense you made for him, he's a cad, and we're allowed to hold that opinion.

He might not have been convicted of any crime yet, although whether he lied to the US Congress is still pending, but I think most of us here can safely pass judgment on whether his prior actions are defensible or not.
