I'm shocked!! Do't you know the terrible danger to children that's presented when an SUV has a LOADED GUN in its glove compartment and is stored in a house where there are other guns, including ASSAULT RIFLES. The Brady Center, an always reliable source, can give you countless instances of these HORRIBLE, DIABOLICAL MACHINES coombinging to wipe out entire schools, leaving no living children.

Whenever I see ANY police report about the "street value" of anything they seize, I automatically take off one of the zeros as they love to impress with wild embellishments.

This "off the streets" nonsense just gets worse with every chance discovery.

"I guess some rights are more alienable than others........."
In our constitution, you do have those rights. But if you choose to not play by the rules (i.e commit a felony) you loose those rights. But its by your choice of committing a felony that you loose those rights.
Not sure what your comment along the "Alienable" is all about.
Its the way it has always been and was intended by the discussions at the time of the writing of the constitution.

If it is a right, it cannot be taken away. If it is a privelege, then it can. It may be contrary to popular opinion, or against some people's views as to what the law should be, but even if a person has been convicted of a felony (and there are numerous ways, some violent, some not) that does not remove their right to self defense. My opinions on this matter used to be the same as yours, ie, felons should not have weapons, but now that I see society's laws slowly taking away those rights, I have changed my mind. If everyone in the country was deemed to be a felon on some level, then no one would have that right. Would you go along with a law that made traffic offenses, ie, speeding or even illegal parking a reason to remove your name from the people allowed to own a firearm? Of course not! But that is the road we are on. Sooner or later the restrictions will be so severe that owning a gun will be the exclusive right of the social elite and they will have won.......
