SYDNEY, Australia The racial unrest that broke out in Sydney's beachside suburbs over the weekend has spread to two other large Australian cities, where people of Middle Eastern descent were assaulted by whites, police said Tuesday.
In New South Wales, where Sydney is located, lawmakers scheduled an emergency session of the state Parliament to consider legislation cracking down on the rioters who rampaged through the city's suburbs for two straight nights, the region's premier said.
Seven people were injured and 11 arrested after youths rioted in the suburbs Monday night, smashing the windows of stores, homes and parked cars. The youths appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent, leading police to believe the destruction was in response to racially fueled attacks on a Sydney beach a day earlier.
Calling the rioters "ratbags," New South Wales premier Morris Iemma said police would be given special "lockdown" powers to stop convoys from forming and driving into communities to carry out acts of retribution. He also said he would urge lawmakers to pass legislation toughening prison sentences for rioting offenses.

Maybe thats whats ticking the Aussies off!
This ain't about race...it's about religion. The Lebs tried to take over and force Sharia law on non muslims. The Non Muslims had a belly full of it and fought back. I suggest that Muslims move out of Aussie territory and into the freedom of an Islamic country. Quickly.
From everything I've heard, still isn't clear to me who started it.
Who started it? The Lebs who attacked the lifeguards and were calling the Australian women 'whores' for being in bathing suits, perhaps. The gang rape 'habit' that the muzzies seem to have brought with them to Austalia, perhaps? The 'ratbag' culture that chooses not to assimilate but rather to impose sharia law in its new country? Just some guesses.
Maybe because not *all* people of Middle Eastern descent are Muslims. The Middle East isn't limited to one or two countries; Israel, last time I checked, is a Middle Eastern country. So are many northern African countries. Islam may be predominant in many of them, but it's not the sole religion that has a major following in some.
Waht ever happened with the Antrax story? No more ponds to drain?
The Lebs who attacked the lifeguardsEvery outlet I've seen says this attack was merely rumored.

How did all these muslims get in there? I was once told that you could only visit Australia but had to leave after so many days. Is their immigration policy as lax as ours?
Before the election of the current Howard Government in 1996, Australia was cursed for 13 years with Labor (socialist) Governments. It was during this time that the floodgates of Muslim immigration were opened. We're now starting to pay the price.

"Police ranks boosted in war on riots
Nick Leys and Richard Kerbaj
December 14, 2005
SYDNEY has declared war on all rioters after more than 48 hours of lawlessness and admissions from both the police and Muslim leaders that they have been unable to control the angry mobs of young men....."
I think the MIddle Eastern gangs started it. Not terrorists, but common criminals.
"Yesterday, I seen ABC was using the term Middle Eastern youths, now FOX is saying people of "Middle Eastern descent". Why can't they just say Muslims?"
"Maybe because not *all* people of Middle Eastern descent are Muslims... Islam may be predominant in many of them, but it's not the sole religion that has a major following in some."
I doubt you'll find any Christian Arabs or Israelis involved in the attacks on the Aussies. caver is correct: "Muslims" would be the more precise description, though it's unpalatable to the P.C. MSM. Do you recall any non-Muslims involved in the incidents in Britain or France or Indonesia?
I'd say Muslims are certainly the "predominant", if not "sole", participants in these attacks, as well as the rapes that preceeded.
I think you need to differentiate between "rumored" (we don't know if it happened) and "alleged" (our lawyers tell us we have to use this until the guy is convicted)
In the US, most Arab-Americans are, in fact, Christians. A good number of those happen to be Lebanese. When I read that Lebanese people were involved in these riots, I wondered whether Christian Lebanese also migrated to Australia in large numbers.
Israel, last time I checked, is a Middle Eastern country .. it's not the sole religion that has a major following in some.
You're right about Israel. Turkey is a middle-eastern country that is 99% Muslim but is not Arab. Sudan is divided between Muslims and Christians and Animists. There's an orthodox part of Ethiopia (some ancient kingdom that held out against the Arab invaders).
Oher than that, the majority of Middle-Eastern and North African countries are Muslim.
"Maybe because not *all* people of Middle Eastern descent are Muslims. The Middle East isn't limited to one or two countries; Israel, last time I checked, is a Middle Eastern country. So are many northern African countries. Islam may be predominant in many of them, but it's not the sole religion that has a major following in some."
What you say is true, but my bet is that they are Muslim.
From the Fox excerpt:"The rioting began Sunday on Cronulla Beach when about 5,000 white youths rallied by neo-Nazi groups and cell phone text messages attacked people believed to be of Arab or Middle Eastern descent after rumors spread that Lebanese youths had assaulted two lifeguards earlier this month. Police fought back with batons and pepper spray."
I think this pretty explains how it started - and as others have pointed out, it started because of rumors. The mass violence wasn't a rumor; the reason it started was because of a rumor. Pretty sad. Are people so gung-ho to attack other people (no matter what religious background) that they'll erupt over a rumor? Let's get the facts before jumping down someone's throat, lest it be the wrong throat we jumped down...
Generally one should not blame the victim (muslims in this case). However, one should note that the orientals and whites are getting along swimmingly. Why is that unless maybe you should blame the victim (muslims) this time.
Please read post 39.
I do think the muslims have brought this on themselves.
