Old German -- I bought this in college. A case of 16 oz'ers was $4.29 with deposit. You could not beat it.

I can remember being in Rhode Island back in 1970 while there was a teamsters strike. The only thing left on the shelves was Naragansett and Carling BL.

Iron City is the single nastiest beer I've ever tasted. It makes PBR look like Chateau d'Yquem. Compared to Schlitz in its last years, Iron City was Chateau d'Yquem. Depending, of course, on what the particular can of Schlitz you opened tasted like.

BARF ALERT----
In 2004, the US brewers imported about 3.5 million lbs of hop cones from FRANCE, about 100,000 lbs more than from Germany!

I was disappointed that our local Texas Roadhouse (TN)Restaurant didn't serve Shiner. No reason to go back there.

Reminds me of a story my Dad repeatedly tells me about his time in Okinawa... Okinawan beer was either great or horrible. Every bottle was a surprise.

In 1972 when I was going to college in DC I had cash flow problem one weekend but was saved when I found I could get a case of Iron City for $4.00.
