You seem to think people should be banned for raising uncomfortable points. Well, that's not how FReep works.
This is a site for discussion, and we will discuss as long as I'm around.

"Basically isn't he accused of doing the same thing that all the Democrat 527's were doing last year? "

That's my understanding, but I probably don't understand things that well in this case.

It also appears to be an issue of Texas law rather than federal law, so what the 527s were doing wouldn't be relavant if they weren't doing it in Texas, I guess.

If the facts are with Delay, he cannot get any worse than a hung jury, even in Austin there will be at least one juror who won't go along with a whitewash.

Elections are coming up; so this is bad news for Repubs. . .Delay will be 'occupado[.

As to a hung jury. . .I imagine politics in Texas can be pretty bad. . .I would not trust the Demrats to fill - somehow - a jury pool. . .something and of course, this is the charge that carries a real jail sentence.

That said. . .I think he will get off. . .I certainly hope so. But . . .whose tot trust out there, these days. . .

One question:

Had venue been granted, would Priest still be the judge on this trial?

CA....

Ah, yes, the standard complaint by those that have little to complain about.

Reportedly he has stated he "failed" them and apologized, guess that comment never makes your greatest hits record?

Bottomline- Delay is no RINO. He is an effective arm twister, which is his job. What the leadership puts on table, he delivers. Be it conservative or not. he does his job and gets it through. Considering what we want through right now is ANWR, Delay is missed.

He'll be welcomed back by me, and I'd say the majority, with open arms.

DeGuerin had asked to have the indictments dismissed because of prosecutorial misconduct. Priest said he would hear that motion only if he upheld the indictments against the legal challenges

If this matter does go to trial, and it's not clear that it will, I would file a motion for change of venue. If venue is not changed, I would consider asking for a bench trial.

Well that seals it then. Political contributions are not "proceeds of criminal activity", so I don't see how the money laundering charges could possibly stand.

The only way there would be "criminal activity" is if there was a felony violation of law. The only point where that felony could occur would be if a Texas corporation directly donated funds to a Texas politician. At that point, if those funds were spent they would be "proceeds of criminal activity" under the Texas money laundering statute.

With the conspiracy charges dismissed there is no possible way that the money laundering charges can stand, since there is no longer any felony to turn the political donations into "proceeds of criminal activity".

Earle is hosed!

We are extremely pleased and confident that the money laundering will be found baseless also.

You want streamlined synergy in the House under Tom or status quo politics with little progress? COME ON!

Avenge us Tom!

Before we get to the facts of the case at trial we have to get to the facts of the third grand jury indictment on money laundering and conspiracy.

If the news accounts were correct and Mr Ronnie Earle hustled an indictment through GJIII, within a couple of hours of their reporting for duty, by telling them that members of GJI siad they would have indicted Delay on the new charges while keeping from them the fact that GJII issued a statement saying that Earle didn't have the goods the ballgame is over.

Delay walks, Ronnie Earle bites the big one.

BTW, that's the big game, both DeGuerin and Earle knew that the bill obtained in GJI was gonna get tossed.

The headline says that only one of the two felony indictments was dropped.

Ronnie Earle's new nickname is going to be, "The Nail."

I know we aren't out of the woods yet, but I can't wait...
