I DO understand what you've been through, having seen similar experiences.
All I was getting at is there are ways to reform the system.
As for doctors, none of the conservatives I know want to protect incompetitant or bad doctors. The goal is to stop the fivilous law suits, as you pointed out. The only question is how to do that. For doctors who are really bad, and sued, I know there are hundreds of others who are sued wrongly. The situation is how to seperate the good from the bad, and eliminate bad doctors while not harming the good ones.
To be honest, the AMA should be involved in the, but they won't do anything I'm afraid.
You are dead on..
The key is HOW DO WE DO THAT...
and the AMA being involved would be great...
I have some ideas... first though- when you mention good doctors being wrongly sued- it isn't just the doctors... one patient has a complaint goes to an attorney and then 100 hospital employees suddenly need a lawyer because everyone on duty that day is named... withint weeks the names drop off to about 4 or 5- but meanwhile, good, hardworking people lose their jobs, pay attorney fees, worry beyond belief... sad....
I think we make a law that says 3 strikes you are out... if an attorney brings a case and it it thrown out - then that is one strike...3 stirkes- you lose you license to practice...
That was introduced here in GA- BY A TRIAL ATTORNEY, YET! ( A republican one...) and the insurance companies lobbied hard and said NO WAY! THey knew this included THEM! THe HYPOCRISY of the Insurance companies is amazing... I truly believe that other than terrorists and border control- Insurance is the biggest threat to our country...
lots of ways to deal with this...but we shouldn't get our reps in the mindset that they can protect certain classes and punish others.... not good... dangerous, slippery slope...
