Ten Marines killed in Iraq bombing. Details to come...

I would not tell her until I absolutely HAD to tell her.
Many hateful people on the Left live everyday to see our troops getting killed but they will not mention it publicly. They think that the more troops getting killed in Iraq the more it will be a biggger problem for President Bush and the Republicans and hence the better are their chances to get back into power. They are fatally mistaken.
"I can hear the jubilation over at DU right now. "
I just perused this "10 Marines killed" thread in DU. Saw lots of predictable anger at Bush, but absolutely nothing in the form of happiness or 'jubilation'.
"Go read one or two DU threads that get started about this news."
I did - no happiness there. Just anger at Bush and sorrow for victims and their families.
Believe me, if they knew the troops were Republicans, they would be making with the glee.
My unit, 2/278th RCT, returned from Iraq in October-we were only about a 2 hour drive from Fallujah. Our TTPs called for patrolling in Hummers and using tracks as fire support on missions. That way if one vehicle was destroyed the casualties were minimized. I wonder why this keeps happening to USMC units and I don't see any reason why it should continue.
Read my post # 78.
I agree with you about Americans patrolling. I'm no military expert but its stupid for them to act like cops. Why not just keep them at their barracks and call them for serious fighting.
I'm praying for the parents, spouses and children who will have a lousy Christmas.
May God take these brave men's souls into his bosom, and may His peace that surpasses any understanding cover these heroes' families.
Iraq is not Vietnam, no matter how much the Left and the MSM wants to make it so. The people we are fighting in Iraq are the very same folks who hit the WTC twice, our embassies in east Africa (the casualty figure in Nairobi was over 5,000 killed or wounded), and the USS Cole. They also formally declared war against us in 1996. More people were killed on 9/11 than at Pearl Harbor. If you want an analogy, then that is it, not Vietnam.
It can't be said enough. The war in Iraq and Afghanistan are part of the WOT. Paraphrasing Joe Louis, "We can run, but we can't hide." Leaving Iraq without winning is not an option.
I'm a proud Marine mom, and I'm pretty tough too, but wept upon hearing the news about our Marines. My son just returned from Iraq, and I remember how many sleepless nights I had this past spring and summer, not knowing where he was other than near the Syrian border. Also, he is based out of Camp LeJeune,N.C.where these brave soldiers are from, and you know - it's hard to find the words to express your sorrow to their loved ones, because I could be walking in their shoes.....I just pray a lot!!! I try and keep in touch with the "gold star" families I have met, even if it's just a hi, I'm thinking of you, do you need anything? I will always have "steadfast love" for my country, and most of all our soldiers, because without their sacrifices, we wouldn't have freedom, let alone a country!!Semper Fi Blessings!!!
I agree with out when it comes to Iraq being a vital part of the War on Terror.
But, I never talked about leaving Iraq without winning.
I just don't believe US troops need to be the cops of Iraq anymore. We can fight off the insurgent in offensives and when the insurgents try attacking somewhere. And, we can concentrate on training Iraq troops. But, we don't need to be driving humvees around Baghdad where there is hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who would be happy to do it.
THE MSM DEAD FAILURE REPORT: 10 DEAD MARINES.
MSM REACTION: HOORAY. BREAK OUT THE CHAMPAIGN AT THE MSM.
I wonder if any of these 'objective' reporters know what this unit has accomplished in the last three months?
MSM REACTION: PHEW, WE DON'T HAVE TO REPORT THE ECONOMIC NEWS. PUT THE DEAD SOLDIERS AT THE FRONT OF THE LINE, BECAUSE SOLDIERS IN IRAQ ONLY 'DIE' OR 'SCREW UP'.
You aren't running the war, our military is. I trust their judgment. They know the situation on the ground much better than you or I do. The Iraqis are taking an ever increasing burden of the fighting as they are trained to do so. That is the plan and the strategy for victory and our eventual departure. I don't understand why that is so difficult to comprehend.
What you are reading is the initial "instinct" of a human being...after the idiots at DU have time to get with their chums...and listen to Air Amerika for a day...
by tomorrow, I bet there will be some posts saying that these Marines dying yesterday, will HELP...especially next week, when Congress is back in town..
Remember...the very last act of Congress before the two week Thanksgiving break was that 403-3 vote against withdrawing from Iraq...and the dems have been seething since then...it will come out...it always does, sadly.
If you Mom has a computer send her over to some of the Marine Mom online support groups. Moms can complain to each other and not make their sons and daughters feel bad. They really do help. She may have her down moments over the whole thing but she will be OK. She will be proud in the long run.
I don't know if this explains things for you or not..but I heard within the last hour on Fox, that these Marines were investigating a factory...and they were in a courtyard by the factory...
Does that make more sense than a close line of troops walking on the side of a road???
