Actually, the official hurricane season ends tomorrow, but it's still unusual to get one this late.

What happens when they run through the Greek alphabet?
To: Spktyr
My local weather dude here said the official counters and namers of tropical storms are playing a game this year and that a lot of very borderline storms were given names that in the past would have been nameless. Anyone else heard anything on this?

Just out of curiosity, when will they start the clock on the next season and use the "A" name for a storm? Because something tells me that the storms aren't going to care that the official hurricane season ends tomorrow.

To: Rippin
That's highly implausible. In order to get a name, a storm has to have tropical storm force winds. Either the winds are fast enough, or they're not. Unless they are screwing with the data, there's no basis to the statement.
