I heard on the radio this morning, that a pilot of a passenger jet departing LAX claimed to have narrowly avoided being hit by a missile. It was reported that the jet was about 6,000 feet in altitude & over the ocean when the event occurred. The news report further stated that authorities believe it was possibly a flare or a "bottle rocket."
I googled but found nothing. Anyone else have some info on this? I dont recall whether it was CBS or NBC radio news.
Damn.
(12/2/05 - KANSAS CITY, MO) - An America West Airbus jet made an emergency landing at Kansas City International Airport after someone left a note in the plane's bathroom that said: "Taliban is Here.
"The plane was flying from Phoenix to Boston Thursday when a passenger saw the note, KCI spokesman Joe McBride said.
The passenger notified the flight crew and the pilot landed the plane at KCI about 1:30 p.m., authorities said.
The FBI, airport police and the Transportation Security Administration responded and police dogs searched the plane. No one was detained or arrested, McBride said.
The passengers were allowed to board the plane again shortly before 4:30 p.m.
Well, perhaps it should be investigated a little, hmmmm?

I heard a few minutes then they summarized the conversation, I thought that was it and went to bed. We are not in a tinfoil hat area inspite of the usual supects trying to brand this as such. In fact I think we are probably understating the importance of this incident.
I just noticed it on Drudge, too! Finally something.

A SUSPECTED terrorist was arrested yesterday as he tried to buy a missile to shoot down a holiday jet.
The Asian-born man, 28, was also thought to be seeking explosives for a Christmas bomb blitz in London. He was held at gunpoint by police and MI5 agents near the M25 in Hertfordshire. A source at Scotland Yard said: "We think he was buying the missile in a bid to bring down a trans-Atlantic airliner on landing or departure at a major British airport....

Thanks for the ping. That must have been some "bottle rocket"
Given our experience with the Norman bombing, I don't expect anything useful from the authorities or the MSM.
You're welcome.
