A Palestinian woman embraces the trunk of an olive tree after it was destroyed as an Israeli troop looks on in the West Bank village of Salem, near Nablus November 27, 2005. Jewish settlers cut down and uprooted hundreds of olive trees on Palestinian farms near the West Bank city of Nablus on Sunday, residents and Israeli police said. Settlers from the most radical enclaves in the occupied West Bank have often attacked farms since the start of the Palestinian uprising in 2000. Farmer Andy Scott oversees the pruning of an olive tree grove at Hidden Villa. The olive orchard was planted by missionaries in the early 1800s for oil. The trees are considered to be "incredibly resilient." Scott said the pruning is necessary because the overgrown trees have never been pruned, and the tall branches have intertwined, making selective branch pruning impossible and unsafe. Scott insists that the pruning, which looks dramatic, is being done to "save the heritage growth. We have to look for the long view. We'd like these trees to be here another 150 years."
Funny how California olive growers "destroy" their own trees the same way as the "eeville settlers" "destroy" Palestinian trees.
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
Priceless picture. ROFLMAO
Poor palestinians. At least they don't kill trees, which is a horrible thing to do; they just blow up innocent civilians.
America has Christmas Tree farms where, for a price, families make an outing specifically to chop down trees.
Anyone know why the WC has said they're illegal?
The muzzies are so ignorant, stupid and have no concept of agriculture that they can't possibly fathom how destroying the old growth of olive trees could possibly be beneficial so they use their own stupidity and ignorance to further foment hatred against the Jews who are vastly more intelligent and learned than they. The Israelis actually did the dumb bastards a favor, but it is no use. Its kind of like trying to teach a turd not to stink.
Good olive trees have to be grown for decades and they provide steady income for the families. American settlers were using analogical (comment for the more dense - other things than olive trees) tactics to uproot Indian tribes.
From the article:
. Jewish settlers cut down and uprooted hundreds of olive trees on Palestinian farms...
So, you are saying thatr it is ok that the settlers cut down and uprooted the trees?
That is a bit different than what the California Olive growers do, don't you think?
And no I am not a Palestinian sympathizer. I think you spun the facts just a bit.
"A Palestinian woman embraces the trunk of an olive tree "
I didn't know they had tree hugging hippies there too.
Now in the picture the woman is clinging to a tree to which none of thess techniques has been applied. The tree appears pruned. It takes far more work to prune a tree than to cut it down. True, over-pruning can weaken a tree and cause it mortal injury, but is is also true that as you show with the California olive growers, olive trees like most producing fruit trees are most productive when radically pruned.
Where in your link is the photo of the Arab woman embracing a pruned tree? When I link, the article shows an unrelated photo of Shimon Peres. Thank you.
So by now they've destroyed, what, about 800% of the trees ever planted?
That is an interesting statistic, as there are around 1.5 million Arabs in Israel total. I guess one and a half of them live in the West Bank.
This article is a crock of shi'ite. Muslim's lie, I don't think they are even capable of telling the truth. In real life, the population of Hebron grew by about 1500% in Arabs when the Jews returned after being driven out in 1929. The came from everywhere, some of them even from within Israel. They did not however buy the land, they just built.
You know, sometimes I think God is making the Arabs build houses for the return of Israel. When they finaly get their war started, they will end up fleeing just like in 1948. What they will leave behind will be quite handy in the end.
A liberal's wet dream.
I think that all of this needs to be taken with a huge chunk of salt.
I'm as Pro-Israel as they come, but I'm still PO'd to see good olives gone to waste.
I looks by the pics that the trees are being moved not destroyed. Note the trees are being pulled out root and soil.
