a curio case is a cabinet where you show off your Hummels, Lladros, doll collections, Fenton glassware etc. It's the girl version of your fishing pole rack or gun cabinet.

Curio case is short for curiosity case. Republican senatorial nuts would certainly be right at home in one, IMHO. :-)
