"I know over 50% of my money spent during this season is spent for reasons other than Christmas, I mean besides my normal expenses even, because most of the people I'm buying gifts for this time of the year are Jewish or "none of the above"."
Oh man, you are unbelievable. So your small world represents the entire USA? Let me help you out - 90% of America is buying crap for Christmas not Hannaka, Kwanza or any other festivus holiday. That is the truth like it or not. Perhaps you and your friends think the world is flat - that doesnt make it so.
Let me help you out, leading with insults proves you know you're wrong.
Most people are buying presents because you buy people presents this time of year. Gift exchange is another part of the modern "Christmas" celebration that has no basis in Christian doctrine or even Christian tradition until very recently in the 2000 year history of the religion, recently being after the industrial revolution when free market retail became a major driving force in western civilization. So claiming they're buying because of Christ is as ignorant of the historical facts as claiming decorated evergreens are inherrently Christian.
Perhaps you'll find a way to make a fact based point instead of resorting to pathetic ad hominems... I won't hold my breath though.
