JEDDAH, 22 November 2005 A woman demanded from a man who asked her hand in marriage to memorize the holy Quran as a condition of accepting to marry him, Al-Watan reported. The 21-year-old woman said that she is not interested in money as much as she is interested in a good religious husband. The woman said that she would hold a test in which she will ask them to recite the Quran without a mistake.

"The woman said that she would hold a test in which she will ask them to recite the Quran without a mistake."
I wonder how long that takes - I wonder if it's as long as the bible?
There are people who study the bible their whole lives and couldn't recite it without a mistake - maybe she doesn't want to get married.

That lady is bossy wife material.
Mind you, she has a point, and I am sure that some champion reciter will end up in a happy union. Men with bossy wives often seem quite happy, once they have made the adjustment.

I wonder if he'll have a sh*t-eating grin when he recites this part:
[4.34] Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.
