A friend of mine worked for Dallas Fire, which used to be known as one of the best fire departments in the state. He said that politically correct hiring and mis-management had totally destroyed the effectiveness of the department. He told me about Assistant Chiefs who had to come up with a new program as part of their annual review to get a salary increase, and that there were something like twenty or thirty new programs started annually. None of them actually got off the ground, but they were "implemented" and supposedly being carried out, although they served no useful purpose.

I live south of Waco, and mismanagement in Dallas is legendary, as is the incompetence of mayor Laura Miller and the council. When the Dallas Cowboys started negotiations to move back to Dallas into Fair Park, I said "it's never gonna happen. Dallas will never get it's act together enough to put a decent proposal on the table. The Cowboys will end up in Arlington." Sure enough, Laura Miller (applauded by the communists at Texas Monthly) laid down the law to Jerry Jones, and they basically told him he'd be paying for renovation of the entire crime ridden Fair Park area, in exchange for which, they'd also let him renovate the Cotton Bowl.

Jones is moving to Arlington, which now houses the Texas Rangers and the original Six Flags.

Bolton is simply another example of what happens when liberals get control of cities.
