"I do regret that Mr. Bush chose to invade Iraq on this premise ("to free 26 million Iraqis")"
I think it's this line that I find the most offensive. If it's one thing we've learned, it's that it is never wise in the long rum to leave tyrants and totalitarian regimes in place. Some people just can't handle the fact that realpolitik is just another term for appeasement and surrender.

Tonite seems to be "varmint night"-- besides the Dems and the Stealth Trolls here, my old dog stuck her cold muzzle in my face at 2:00AM and we went "Possum Huntin..."
honest to God, the last thing I want to find in the dead of night is a 20lb. rat with needle-teeth and a bad smell.

There are two pointy-head nominals I have heard repeatedly in the last week- perpetual war & redeployment. Perpetual war is being used instead of quagmire. Redeployment is now defining surrender/retreat- which was called- a tactical advance to the rear. Cowards need to constantly change their camouflage and concealment. lol...like hiding is going to protect them.

Oh oh...possums are ugly, nasty things! You have my sympathies, re the "possum hunt".

They also must not want the government to be in Iraq and Afghanistan then, By my guess, 99% support the invasion of Afghanistan. The opinion on the Iraqi war is a little mixed; I'd say nearly half would've wanted Saudi Arabia invaded first ...
don't want tax cuts either
Ron Paul on Tax Reform
- Voted YES on providing tax relief and simplification. (Sep 2004)
- Voted YES on making permanent an increase in the child tax credit. (May 2004)
- Voted YES on permanently eliminating the so-called marriage penalty. (Apr 2004)
- Voted YES on making the Bush tax cuts permanent. (Apr 2002)
- Voted YES on $99.5B economic stimulus: capital gains & income tax cuts. (Oct 2001)
- Voted YES on Tax Cut Package of $958B over 10 years. (May 2001)
- Voted YES on eliminating the Estate Tax. (Apr 2001)
- Voted YES on eliminating the "marriage penalty". (Jul 2000)
- Voted YES on repealing the estate tax ("death tax"). (Jun 2000)
- Voted YES on $46 billion in tax cuts for small business. (Mar 2000)
- Overhaul income tax; end capital gains & inheritance tax. (Dec 2000)
- Phaseout the death tax. (Mar 2001)
- Rated 89% by NTU, indicating a "Taxpayer's Friend" on tax votes. (Dec 2003)
and don't really want a Representative who does anything of value.
If you're speaking of Sheila Jackson Lee, then no.

"Perpetual war" could possibly be a sort of ironic code by the Left, but it's 20 years too late for them to try it. George Orwell used that in 1984 to show how the IngSoc Communist regime kept the people in line, basically by mounting an endless war and keeping the people's hatred directed at the enemy rather than the oppressive regime at home (with the collusion of the other two pan-contintental Communist regimes that inhabited the Earth). If that's what they're doing, they're probably being too subtle about it, and there are probably less people today who are familiar with 1984 than 20 years ago (which was required reading when I was in high school). There is also the fact that the book was a warning against Communism, which would make it ironic.

Interesting point of reference. Forty years ago, I was in school and was somewhat more concerned with real communists and when I would meet these fine human beings. lol...it wasn't much of wait. Twenty years ago, I had long since met them and can honestly say- George Orwell's insights never crossed my mind. Regardless, a timely opinion is well worth waiting for, thank you.

did anyone see on fox crawler late last night that a republican member was seeking the immediate declassification of over 35,000 boxes of documents found in Iraq and Afgan on the WOT.
This is the BEGINNING OF THE END of the democrats "he Lied" claims. I think the Repulicans and the WH is TIRED of their tired line.
To: Windcatcher
I reread 1984 this summer - amazing how much of it still applies to our situation today. Doublespeak and thoughtcrime are alive and well. A brilliant book!

Jeez, I went out yesterday morning, was gone all day and I get up this morning, check FR and all hell seems to have busted out yesterday in DC and I missed it.
I came to the last page of this thread to try to figure it out.
Correct me if I'm wrong but it would seem the House R's actually do have a backbone, remembered that they are in fact the majority party, and forced the D'rats to put up or shut up. Is that about right?
